It's not even finished yet. The version shown at Venice Film Festival was only 30 minutes long.

Well, a UMD (Universal Media Disc) version for the PSP is sceduled to launch with the US PSP, which is May of '05 so I'd expect a DVD release to be around the same time

The day a film festival gives a standing ovation to a 30-minute commercial for a cartoon based on a video game is the day I weep openly. I guarantee you Advent Children was mostly ignored at this thing.

At least I'm glad to see how people recognizes that anime films can be as good as others. It was a pity that the main director wasn't there...However, I'll just be waiting for the film Very Happy

And probably, when the time of Advent Children will come, people will claim for it. But with just a few introductions, what else can we expect? And there's still one anime movie waiting for the people (Steamboy). Let's wait and see...

And you would be wrong. The intesest in 'Advent Children' was very high (so high in fact that for the first time ever Venice Film Festival allowed an incomplete movie to be screened). Granted, most of this interest was purely from a technical standpoint but there are millions of 'Final Fantasy VII' fans worldwide who can't wait to see this movie (myself included).

I hope that atleast Ghibli was able to get a camera in there, that would one heck of a DVD bonus video, just 6 minutes of people clapping at one of the worlds biggest film festivals.

I don't really do this often, but this one kinda deserved it, so here I go: LOL.

This is the Venice International Film Festival. This isn't Comicon or Anime Expo. Film people don't give two flying whatevers about Final Fantasy. In fact, Advent Children is only playing in a special category for short digital productions, a side program that hardly anybody'll be covering. i.e., Advent Children is out of the main competition. It's not special because they "let an incomplete movie be screened," because it's only for a small assemblage of digital programming not in any way related to the main festival.

Steamboy's out of competition too, as it's the closing film. Kinda sad, but oh well. Hopefully it'll fare better in Toronto next week.

I also wanted to comment this. I've noticed it when, over the news, they said "The film will be closed tomorrow, but the jury already have the results for the prices". Does anyone know why didn't Steamboy enter at the contest? Confused
