Akihabara Pop-Up Cafe Features School Swimsuits
posted on by Bamboo Dong
A pop-up cafe has opened in Akihabara featuring waitresses in school swimsuits. Open every Sunday in June at the cosplay cafe Meteor Shower, the four-day event is timed to help promote the June 14 release of Sweet Poolside, a live-action film adaptation of Shūzō Oshimi (The Flowers of Evil, Inside Mari)'s manga.
The story focuses on Toshihiko Ōta, a male swimming club member who has unusually hairless skin. He meets the female swimming club member Ayako Gotō who is unusually hairy.
While the cafe seems to not feature unusually hairy waitresses, it will have some themed menu items. Dishes include onigiri, "sweet pool juice," "bristly hair pasta," sweet pool jello, as well as a photo opportunity.
As for the film itself, Kenta Suga (Kamen Rider x Super Sentai x Uchū Keiji Super Hero Taisen Z) will play Toshihiko, while yuiko Kariya (Suzuki-sensei) will play Ayako. The Japanese rock band Mowmow Lulu Gyaban will perform the theme song "Love Shout!" and Daigo Matsui (Daily Lives of High School Boys live-action film, Afro Tanaka) will direct the film and write the script.
