Lego Builder Takes Kaneda's Bike to the Next Level

1,091-piece model is remote controlled for cruising

Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den is a YouTube channel dedicated to creating amazing LEGO models. Sariel, with some assistance from LEGO aficionados the Arvo Brothers' detailed book and stickers, created a remote control version of Kaneda's bike from Akira.

The entire bike is 36.8cm (about 14.5 inches). Due to the model's size, Sariel used two PF M motors controlled by cables. The remote is also made of Legos. Unfortunately, due to the need for cables, the motorcycle can't get very far without the operator moving along with it. Still, it manages to coast along at a nice cruising speed.

Included in the design are functional LED lights to illuminate the dashboard, headlamp, and turn signals. Building the entire model uses 1,091 Lego pieces, many of which are no longer in production.
