Girls und Panzer Teach Water Safety with Ibaraki Coast Guard

posted on by Carlos Cadorniga

The girls of Girls und Panzer are reporting for duty with the Ibaraki Coast Guard.

Characters from the popular tank-for-sport anime are being featured on special Japanese Coast Guard safety leaflets. Oarai Girls High School students Miho Nishizumi and Anzu Kadotani are presented in full uniform to offer tips on how to remain safe on the sea during the summer. Anyone who offers their mailing information to this website will receive the special pamphlets. Otherwise, they may be picked up at Oarai Port on July 11 and 12 during an informational event.

The collaboration is meant to advertise the upcoming movie set to be released this summer.

This isn't the first time Girls und Panzer have cooperated with Ibaraki. Previously, the anime has been awarded by the prefecture for improving its image last year.

Oarai holds two Girls und Panzer festivals every year—one to coincide with the town's spring festival, and one timed for the town's annual autumn Angler Fish Festival. Not only does the city serve as the setting for the series, its landmarks and streets also serve as the actual reference for many of the backdrops.
