The wraparound jacket band on the fifth volume of Ryuta Amazume's Nana to Kaoru manga is announcing this week that an anime DVD and a live-action project are being made. The anime DVD will ship with the limited first edition of the sixth manga volume on March 29, 2011. VAP's Tokyo Shishunki division will produce the live-action project, which is expected to be completed in spring. More information about the projects will be posted on the Young Animal Web site and Tokyo Shishunki website, respectively.
In a separate development, Akaneshinsha announced (link not suitable for work) earlier this month that the last reissue volume of Tarō Shinonome's Swing Out Sisters manga will ship in 2011 with an original video anime (OVA) Blu-ray Disc. Unlike Nana to Kaoru, Swing Out Sisters manga and anime are explicitly listed as restricted to ages 18 and over. Icarus Publishing released Swing Out Sisters in North America. Swing Out Sisters was recently featured in a Danish museum's exhibition of manga to encourage a debate on media and government restrictions.
Update: Hideki Okamoto is directing the animated version of Nana to Kaoru at AIC PLUS+. Atsuko Watanabe is designing the characters and overseeing the animation process for the anime. Atsushi Shimizu is writing and directing the live-action version. [Via Moon Phase]
