This year's June issue of Shueisha's V Jump magazine is revealing on Saturday that Bandai, Bandai Namco Entertainment, and Toei Animation are collaborating on a new Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters multimedia project that will include a game, a television anime series, and hobby products (for example figures or models). The project is planned to launch this fall.
The International Tokyo Toy Show 2016 will reveal more information about the project on June 9.
The latest anime in the Digimon franchise is the Digimon Adventure tri. six-part film project. The first film opened in Japanese theaters last November, the second film opened in Japan on March 12, and the third film (pictured at right) will open in Japan on September 24. Crunchyroll began streaming both films as four individual episodes each on the same day they opened in Japan.
The latest video game in the franchise, Digimon World -Next 0rder-, shipped in Japan for the PlayStation Vita on March 17.
