Imagica Robot Holdings Renamed as Imagica Group in Reorganization

Imagica to also merge with 2 other subsidiaries to expand focus

Imagica Robot Holdings, the holding company and parent company of Imagica, announced on Monday that it will change its name to Imagica Group as part of a planned company reorganization on October 1. The holding company was established with its current name after a merger between the Imagica and Robot video production companies in 2006.

Imagica, the principal shareholder of the Imagica Robot Holdings company, will also merge with the Kansai-based film treatment subsidiary Imagica West, as well as the Internet and mobile advertising and marketing subsidiary IMAGICA Image Works, and will also change its name. The new company will handle video production, archiving, and web videos in an effort to optimize video production work.

Imagica Robot Holdings previously partnered with Sumitomo Corporation and the Cool Japan Fund in 2015 to acquire SDI Media, a Los Angeles-based post-production firm that specializes in localizing foreign media. The company also acquired the Pokémon anime studio Oriental Light and Magic (OLM) in 2015.
