1st volume ships in June

The official website for the Sailor Moon franchise revealed on Thursday that Kodansha's children's literature label Aoitori Bunko will release a novel adaptation of Sailor Moon. Fairy Navigator Runa manga author Miyoko Ikeda is writing the novels.

The first novel will be titled Bishōji Senshi Sailor Moon 1 Erabareta Senshi (Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon 1: The Chosen Guardian), and it is slated to ship in June. The website will provide more information in the future.

Stuart Levy and Lianne Sentar previously wrote a novel series adaptation in English. Tokyopop's Mixx Entertainment imprint published the eight-volume series from 1999 to 2000.

Naoko Takeuchi's original manga series debuted in 1991, and it has inspired numerous anime, stage musicals, and a live-action television series. The third season of the most recent anime, Sailor Moon Crystal (seen right), premiered in 2016. Viz Media released all three seasons on home video in North America.
