Mob Psycho 100 Stage Play Gets Sequel in September

1st play's cast, director return for new play in Tokyo, Hyōgo

The official website for the stage play based on ONE's Mob Psycho 100 manga revealed on Friday that the play is getting a sequel. The new play will run at The Galaxy Theatre in Tokyo from September 13-17 and at Shinkobe Oriental Theater in Hyōgo from September 20-23. Marvelous began streaming an announcement video with Setsuo Ito, who plays Mob, and Takeshi Nadagi, who plays Dimple, on Friday.

The main cast members will reprise their roles in the new play, including Ito, who originally played Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama in the manga's television anime adaptation. Keita Kawajiri (Sugarboy) is again directing and writing the script.

The first stage play (seen right) ran from January 6-14 at The Galaxy Theater in Tokyo.

The original manga creator ONE (One-Punch Man) launched the Mob Psycho 100 series on Ura Sunday in 2012 and later in Shogakukan's Manga ONE app in 2014. Shogakukan published the manga's 15th compiled book volume on October 19, and the 16th will ship on July 19.

The anime adaptation of ONE's original manga premiered in Japan in July 2016 and Crunchyroll streamed the series with English subtitles as it aired in Japan. Funimation streamed an English dub for the anime last December.

Funimation describes the story:

Kageyama Shigeo (a.k.a. Mob) is an 8th grader with powerful psychic abilities. Workingunder his not-so-capable master, Reigen, Mob uses his powers to exorcise evil spirits. But his will to be normal causes him to suppress his powers and feelings until he hits 100 percent — a point where his pent-up emotions are unleased and a darker power takes over.

The manga also inspired a live-action drama starring Tatsuo Hamada in January. TV Tokyo produced the live-action show in collaboration with Netflix. In addition, the anime received an event centered on the character Reigen in March, and Crunchyroll is streaming the event anime. The event revealed the main anime's second season.
