posted on by Andrew Osmond
New releases by Anime Limited and MVM.

On Monday May 20, Anime Limited will release Collector's Blu-ray (pictured) and standard DVD editions of the second volume of the series Re:Zero, carrying episodes 13 to 25. The Collector's Blu-ray includes a 52-page booklet.

Anime Limited will also release a standard Blu-ray edition of the film Belladonna of Sadness. The film's story follows Jeanne (Katsutaka Ito) after she is assaulted by a local lord on her wedding night. Vowing revenge, she makes a deal with the Devil (Tatsuya Nakadai). The Devil transforms Jeanne into a black-robed manifestation of her madness and desire.

Eiichi Yamamoto (Star Blazers scriptwriter, Astro Boy: Hero of Space) wrote and directed the film at Mushi Productions. Masahiko Satoh (Grave of the Fireflies, The Fantastic Adventures of Unico) composed the film's soundtrack.

The Blu-ray will also include interviews with Eiichi Yamamoto, the Art Director Kuni Fukai, and and the composer Masahiko Satoh.

MVM will release a standard Blu-ray edition of the first 13-part season of The Eccentric Family. The series is set in Kyoto, where humans, tanuki (shape-shifting raccoon-dogs), and tengu (long-nosed goblins of Japanese folklore) intermingle. In the Shimogamo family of tanuki, Yasaburō lives for whatever strikes his fancy at the moment. P.A. Works adapted a novel by Tomihiko Morimi, the author of The Tatami Galaxy (Yojō-Han Shinwa Taikei) novel.
