Episodes stream daily at 5:30 p.m. IST

Muse Asia's official YouTube channel started streaming the television anime adaptation of Shiratori Shirow and Shirabi's The Ryuo's Work Is Never Done! (Ryūō no Oshigoto!) light novel series on Saturday. The channel will add a new episode daily at 5:30 p.m. IST until August 26.

Alongside India, Muse Asia is streaming the anime in Bangladesh, Brunei, Bhutan, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The anime premiered in January 2018. Muse SG describes the anime:

Shogi, also known as Japanese chess or the Game of Generals, is a two-player strategy board game that is the Japanese variant of chess...

Waaaaait a minute! What's up with Shogi you say? We have an anime all about Shogi coming right up!

Shinsuke Yanagi (Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS, And you thought there is never a girl online?, Momo Kyun Sword) directed the anime at the studio project No.9 (Angel's 3Piece, And you thought there is never a girl online?). Fumihiko Shimo (New Game!, Clannad, Infinite Stratos) was in charge of the series scripts, and Akane Yano (And you thought there is never a girl online?) designed the characters based on Shirabi's original novel illustrations. Kenji Kawai (Ghost in the Shell, Fate/stay night, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma ½) composed the music.

SB Creative's GA Bunko label began releasing the light novel series in 2015. Shirow provides the story, and Shirabi illustrates the novels. The 13th volume shipped on August 6. The novels topped the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! (This Light Novel Is Amazing!) guidebook's list of the top light novel series for 2017 and ranked #2 in 2019.

Kazuki and Kogetaokoge launched a manga adaptation of the novels in Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine in 2015. Kazuki was in charge of the story composition, and Kogetaokoge illustrated the manga. Square Enix published the manga's 10th and final volume in August 2019.

The series is also inspiring a PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch game that is slated for this year.
