Pony Canyon Launches North American Anime Brand Ponycan Begins Worldwide Streaming of Two New Anime Series: Denki Gai No Honya-San and Yuki Yuna wa Yusha de aru
TOKYO, JAPAN (September 25, 2014):- PONY CANYON INC., top producer/distributor of visual and audio entertainment DVDs and CDs in Japan, announces a major move into the North American market with its new North American brand PONYCAN-ぽにきゃん.
PONYCAN debuts with two exciting anime titles, Denki-gai no Honya-san and Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru which begin worldwide streaming (excepting Asia) in October, 2014 on Crunchyroll, the American website that is the world's largest streaming service company.
Denki-gai no Honya-san debuts October 2nd, showing on Thursdays at 7:30am Pacific Time. A blush-inducing, coming-of-age comedy about manga-loving book store employees!! The unique cast of characters -- all hard-core manga fans and maniacs of some sort -- work at comic shop “Uma no hone.” On a daily basis, they display new releases, shrink-wrap comics, shudder at their lack of feminine qualities, question their love for porn literature…and basically have fun while working hard (?). Girls and guys call each other by nicknames and some begin to develop close relationships! It's non-stop humor and romance in this book store rom-com!.
Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru premieres October 16th, showing on Thursdays at 11:19am Pacific Time. Yuna Yuki is an ordinary second-year middle school student. She gets up in the morning, gets ready for school, goes to classes, participates in club activities, plays with friends… But there is one extraordinary thing about Yuki -- she belongs to the “Brave Hero Club.” What does the Brave Hero Club do? Who is the mysterious being called “Vertex?” Yuki Yuna and her friends' story takes place in Year 300, Era of the Gods.
Beyond these two series, PONYCAN-ぽにきゃん. plans to launch new anime titles for worldwide streaming on a regular basis in the future, and in 2015 plans to begin releasing new anime titles on US-format Blu-rays and DVDs throughout the US and Canada which will offer the same outstanding quality as the editions released in Japan.
