I'm just curious as to whether you all think Ebichu could air on an American cable network.

Obviously, Adult Swim wouldn't show something like this.
And of course it couldn't possibly be on Anime Unleashed.

But, if a network that doesen't normally show anime gets into showing anime, which would be the most likely to show it?

I'm just curious as to what network, if they started showing anime, could show really raunchy anime.

And Golden Boy. There's another one I'm curious about.

The only one I could think of would be Comedy Central(since they have South Park, after all)... and they would never show anime...

Oh, and notice that I used the word "would" instead of "could" in the title.

Yeah, I believe Showtime had the crappy dub of GTO on for some time, right? The English version of that series is pretty crude for their standards.

Spike TV especially if they show Kiddy Grade, Ikkitousen, the Burn Up series, Gravion and a bunch of other series that has badass girl action with bouncing breasts.

It makes me wonder if an average American Joe would like this type of stuff. Rolling Eyes

The Action Channel (one of the Encore networks) also shows a lot of anime OAVs and movies.

(I hate not having it. I missed the entire 3x3 Eyes series which they were airing back-to-back. Sad But, when housesitting one day, I did catch Macross II: The Movie, which I thought was pretty good btw.)

Any "premium" channels like HBO, Showtime and stuff like that. Also Spike TV, and FX, and maybe Comdey Central.

The premium channels have shown anime on occassion over the years. I remember seeing the old Tank Police on Showtime a while back.
The problem with anime is the content. Spike and Comedy Central can get away with more as they are aimed at older audiences, but even they couldn't show Ranma 1/2 uncut (especially the first few episodes).
Premium channels can show whatever they want, whenever they want. The Action channel has designated Friday night (midnight) to be their anime primetime. Problem is, nobody's home.
The movie channels would be the premiere choice, but they see anime as a chance. They don't think it'll get the nationwide ratings to sutain itself. Add to that the fact that they are now competing head to head with the likes of ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX, and every minute is too precious to take a chance on something.
GoldenBoy, although fuzzed, still couldn't air on a free station. The only way to see it is if you have access to TAN on VOD (if it's still playing).
A pay, linear, anime channel is the only way to get away with it, but ADV decided against it. Will another studio pick up such a station? Don't know. I don't think it would happen soon, if it does happen, though.

Anything Raunchy could definitely be shown on Cinemax. At about 11:00 pm that channel transforms into a constant barrage of soft core movies. Plus, Cinemax has shown a few anime marathons in the past, so they're not new to the idea.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean since TAN is running linear as well as VOD. I only have the VOD, so I can't confirm about the linear channel, but it's supposed to air uncut and unedited. It remains to be seen exactly what they will end up airing in the future.

Golden Boy is actually playing on TAN VOD right now. I can't tell if it's going to be airing linear or not, because the current TAN progam listings on their site does not allow searches by title.

The linear station is showing Burn Up Excess, which has plenty of jiggling and nudity. But no, I doubt they would show very explicit series.

I meant that TAN's linear channel, if I heard correctly, is a free channel. If that's true, then they are subject to FCC standards (ratings, etc.), which means they can't show anything and everything.
For instance, they can't show TVMA ratings. I would suspect that they are limited to TV14, but I'm not sure.
