I was wondering if anyone actually found out what Bear's job in real life was in this anime. I have a few guesses and they are; social worker or Private Eye. If anyone actually knows though thanks for your response .

I'm not sure, but the detective idea sounds good, but I always thought he might've been a writer or reporter since I remember:
Mimiru talking about a book she had to read in school, and then an image of real world Bear looking at the book she was talking about, and that it might've had his name on it.
I don't believe they ever tell you what it is he does, but they gave you enough clues, I suppose. I didn't really care, though, since I was paying more attention to the overall story .

I thought detective because he always did checking into things and had the right answer most of the time. Plus it would explain his disintegrating family life with his strained relations with his son.

Remember the scene when we see a side story for Annwyn on his computer screen? He's a famous author who wrote Crim's favorite novel - the one all the adults have read, which is why he understandably only told B.T. what he does (although for obvious reasons Tsukasa and presumably Mimiru will find out not too long after the series ends ). .

In .Hack//Unison, B.T. asks Bear how things are going at the school, and Crim wonders whether he'd have made friends with Bear if he'd known Bear was such a scholar. I'm assuming Bear is a teacher at the school that he offers Tsubasa a place in.[/spoiler]

Writer...that makes a lot of sense. I feel kind of slow for not picking up on that. Thanks for the answers all.

Bear job, I would have to say he is a detective because I think he was the one who said "Their is a little girl in the hospital thats in a deep coma". I think thats what he said in one of the episods. Also I got a question for myself IS THERE GOING TO BE A THIRD SEASON OF .HACK// IF SO WHEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Bear is definately a very smart teacher, possibly a writing teacher, since he seems so well versed in literature. And it's possible to have one job and still investigate other things like a detective if you're part of a mystery. Mimiru, B.T., and other people investigated things, and they aren't detectives.
Technically, there was a "third" season, if you count .hack//SIGN, .hack//LIMINALITY, and .hack//DUSK (Legend of the Twilight Bracelet). And no, there are currently no plans to make another season (TV or OVA) of .hack, unless Bandai decides to create more of a story. The fourth game resolved things pretty well, and .hack//DUSK resolved it even further. Plus, the storyline splits between the .hack//DUSK anime and manga, so that would create some confusion, and generally "Project dot hack" mania has more or less died down in Japan. Though it would be cool if they could get a working version of "The World" up and running...
