I was reading an article that said as anime becomes more popular, that it will start being made outside of Japan, probally starting in France. Not really Japanese animation, but the rest of the world trying to cash in. There is a growing market in the West for anime, and where people are buying, there will be more and more people selling. Has anyone heard of a renaissance in the West for producing quality animation?

Dude, this is already happening. Just look at the Powerpuff girls, Samurai Jack... that one about the secret agent girls... Nickelodeon is even going to be premiering a new cartoon next month called "I Was a Teenage Robot", or something equally as inane, designed and animated in a rather sickening anime-esque style.

I've been seeing anime style slowly creep into American animation for a long time now. I've known this was coming, and even realized it was here to a certain extent. But still, this new Nicktoon surprises me. "Oooh... They can't sell authentic anime, so they're making their own. ~_~"

Don't forget Teen Titans coming soon to Cartoon Network. It was designed and produced by Glen Murakami and the opening theme is done by Puffy AmiYumi!

Yes!!! I just read about this in NewTypeUSA. I am very interested in seeing how it looks and the story sounds interesting too.

Quality animation is subjective, so people here may or may not agree with me. If I am entertained, if I enjoy the character designs and the story, I consider that quality. My standards are not as technical as many other people's.

That having been said I have been enjoying Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Labratory for years now. I would consider them to be quality. I also really enjoyed Batman Beyond, Batman TAS, Spawn, although I haven't watched them in a log time. Currently the domestic animation I watch includes Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2001 and Home Movies. I think I am done now.

Kodocha:

I mailed asking when they release it on region3 DVD. I will post here if i get a good informative reply.

Dexters lab is real nice at times. The episode where he builds a mechsuit thingie for that ballgame thingie is one of my favourites. I wish i had had a mechsuit to kick the bullies asses with when i went to school.

Cool

I think it is a credit to the Japanese that alot of companies are trying to copy their style. I have no problem with it as long as the animation is decent and the story is good.

I have only recently started watching Samurai Jack and at first was put off by the art but now I dont mind the art and think the stories are kickbutt. I have only seen the teasers and commercials for Teen Titans and I feel it has good potential. I also think that Batman, Superman, and Justice League are about the best the US has to offer, unless you count the credits. I have heard good and bad about Totally Spies but am willing to give it a shot and see what I think.

There is an old saying that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. As long as the new animes are well done not a problem.

On a related note, there's a special new Justice League tonight, but only for tonight. It's all about Darkseid. Old eps of Superman TAS to lead up to the new Justice League episode.

I was wondering if Teen Titans was actually an anime since the eyes are kinda in the anime-style. This is kinda cool, maybe I can become an anime artisit right here in the US Very Happy

imitation is the sincserst (sp?) form of flattery, and this will only help the japanese anime culture, competion strives to make people better in most cases =)

EDIT* Not saying that Wonderful Days looks un-unique, in fact I think this a breath of fresh air for the anime community, and I cant wait for this to be released.

Cool

I have actually been pleasantly suprised by the Superman/Darksied theme tonight.

I have never seen them kill a major character, albeit a supporting one. I have never seen Superman become enraged and totally lose control and I have never seen Superman driven by revenge and was ready to kill. If Supergirl had not intervened I do think Superman would have killed Darkseid.
