I've only seen a few episodes from 2 different Gundam series, I don't recall their names, but is there a trend in the Gundam series' where there is a blonde guy with a mask...I've seen this happen in the 2 I watched and I'm just wondering if they do this in every gundam series

Hm.. well, the archetype for that masked, blonde haired fellow is Char Aznable from the original Mobile Suit Gundam. I know of a couple non-UC Gundam series that re-use a character like him as sort of an antagonist/anti-hero, but that's based on my observation only. I'm not really one to try and dissect every bit of symbolism and/or underlying idiosyncracy of every Gundam series out there. There're just too many different renditions to keep up with
(plus, I've only seen one of those two series in their completion).
Anyway, the only other two Char-type characters I can think of are Zechs Merquise from Gundam Wing and Raw La Cruzet (I like this spelling better EDIT: Fixed some grammar and added a few words. Last edited by Tony K. on Fri Jan 06, 2006 8:06 pm; edited 1 time in total |

There are also Harry Ord, Chronicle Asher, and Schwarz Bruder from Turn-A, Victory, and G Gundam respectively. Each one takes a decidedly different approach on the mask concept, actually. Harry's mask is really more or less a gigantic pair of silver shades, while Chronicle's is a form-fitting ski mask/sock thing over only the lower half of his face (something about spoiler[finding Earth's air disgusting,] I believe), and Bruder's is actually a stylized ninja mask.

There was also Jamil Neate from Gundam X; he wore sunglasses. (Might've gotten the name wrong...)

You forgot to mention Ulube from G-Gundam... He has metallic mask covering about half of his face. That and spoiler[he's the true villain of the show]. And then in Gundam F-91 the villain wore a mask that concealed his entire face, his nickname even being "Iron Mask". |

Ulube wasn't the only one spoiler[who was a "true villain".]. Wong fits that category and while he had good intentions (in a way) Master Asia also fits the category. Also the guy's name from F91 is Korozzo (sp?). |

I Think the creator who made the gundam series until today made it a tradition to put masked guys in the story. i think any gundam series wouldn't be the same without a masked or mysterious man as an antagonist in the story.
