Awesome to see K-ON doing extremely well, seeing a movie that I enjoyed immensely selling over 100k copies brings a smile to my face. I'm surprised there's a show that sold even more, but K-ON still remains number 1 in my heart. :)

Also nice to see that Sword Art Online and Strike Witches selling decently, though they had to get beaten by Fate/Zero T_T

either the numbers are not 100% correct or some people just bought Nisemonogatari Vol. I and 5, but they don't buy 2, 3, or 4.

You forget the case where people may buy multiple copies and sell it second-hand. Another case is some may have bought the regular edition over the limited edition for those volumes.

Some the goods included in the limited editions are quite "valuable" to collectors.

Of course Cars 2 would be popular in Japan due to its Japanese connections.

They're incomplete. Not every store and long tail is covered by Oricon.

Yeah, the tails get chopped off at different points depending on what else was released that week, etc. You can't actually compare them directly or shouldn't. Any that are close should be considered ties and the whole Nisemonogatari series is in that category. They likely sold close to identical amounts and the differences we see are largely errors in how the data is collected.
