Zac mentions that there are Cardcaptor Sakura videogames that are less fun than "watching paint dry", but he doesn't mention the genres... are they all puzzle games or what? A Cardcaptor Sakura RPG has the potential to be really cool, like the classic Super Famicom/SNES Final Fantasy-esque Sailor Moon: Another Story RPG, but it would probably be ridiculously easy like the Tenchi Muyo RPG on the Super Famicom.

I doubt there's a one-on-one CCS fighter like there are for Sailor Moon S and SuperS, since there isn't a whole platoon of hyperpowered magic girls in CCS (what about a fighting game with characters from every CLAMP manga... well, maybe not Suki Dakara Suki?).

What I'd really love to see, though, would be a Cardcaptor Sakura Final Fight clone like the Mega Drive and Super Famicom Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R games (and the little known Sailor Moon arcade game)... I love those (except for the lack of endings), but I think you have to be of a certain age to appreciate Final Fight clones (which itself was a clone of Double Dragon but added health meters for the enemies)... old enough to remember the era (late 80s-early 90s) when it seemed every other game based on a licensed property, from Aliens (arcade) to the Simpsons (arcade) to Batman Returns (Super Famicom/SNES) was a Final Fight clone.

Ahh... so there is a Cardcaptor Sakura Tetris game available... why am I not at all surprised (more of a Columns fan myself... that was actually the game of the many that came packaged with the Sega CD that I played the most, even if it was the lowest tech)? Would love to know a little more about the "RPG" though, from the single picture and the fact it's listed as being for two players on the Japanese site, I doubt it's a Final Fantasy clone.

Actually, FFIV, FFV and FFVI can be 2 players. I tried it with my friend and it was pretty fun.

Oh, really? I did not know that. I presume "Player One" moved the character around the map, though, unless it was split screen or something. Was any incarnation of Star Ocean ever for two players (the version for the North American PlayStation isn't)? I would have thought the more arcade-y, non-turn based battle system of Star Ocean would be a lot more suitable for two player play.

I tried FFIV with 2 players and both players could move the main character around the map, which could get annoying when you wanna go different directions. When you fight you divide up the characters.

If you're a collumns fan you can play Sakura Collumns and lie to yourself.

The best game made off an anime in my opinion is the Magic Knights Rayearth RPG for the saturn.. It was like a Seiken Densetsu clone.. not sure if it was multi player at all.. but I stopped playing it when I got to the part in the series I had watched because the plots were completely Identical and I didn't want to ruin any of it.

You could have a CCS fighting game if you made it wacky like Pocket Fighter. Have tomoyo hitting people with her camera, or give ms. daidouji love-love attacks.. even have Nadesico as a secret character (sakura's mom, not the origin of my nick). Li, Sakura, Meilin, and Kereberos to some extent could all be normal fighting characters with the rest of the characters using moves taken from the anime (Yuki-kun basketball attack or something). I think it'd be pretty good or at least enjoyable if a good company got a hold of it.

Anyway I don't think it could be as boring as the first Love Hina DC game; which should have been subtitled "Roulette".

I think all of the Love Hina games (at least the ones I've played) suck.

The anime games I had the most fun playing is Macross Plus for PSX, Kenshin RPG for PSX, Nadisco for Dreamcast, and Sakura Wars 2 for Dreamcast. Too bad I can't understand most of them, execpt Macross Plus.

I wish more anime games made it to america. I heard they're making a Trigun game but I doubt it'll come to america. There's also a game called Gungrave that has nothing to do with anime but the character design is by the creator of Trigun so I thought I'd mention it.

W-w-w-w-what?!?!

Lemme get this straight: you. Liked. The Sailor Moon Final Fight clones? Holy CRAP. I remember those Sailor Moon games to be the absolute epitome of un-quality that is seen far-too-often in the anime-spun video game world.

On a related note, I played the original Final Fight online today with a complete stranger and it was marvelous. For the first time you could jump-kick or piledrive your gaming buddy and not feel guilty about it... or have to worry about the other dude at the same cabinet turning around and clocking you in the arm.

Well, they're no better or worse than most of the other Final Fight clones (except the first one on the Mega Drive had absolutely no ending... you defeat Beryl and... black screen with credits), but the sprites were pretty big for a 16-bit game, there were plenty of voice samples, and I could recognize many of the locations, like the "Dreamland" amusement park complete with the Panda Train, from actual TV episodes (unlike the Simpsons arcade game, which had the characters from the show, but took place in an alternate Springfield). And I like how Sailor Mars could pick up the fan and hit demons in a humourous manner. I mean, all Final Fight clones are pretty much the exact same game... walk right, beat a few guys up until they stop getting up, flicker and disappear, pick up health items and weapons, wait for the white glove or the GO arrow and repeat. What separates one Final Fight clone from another really is just graphics and sound, and I happened to like the graphics and sound. What can I say, I'm easily amused.

Was this an emulator? There are emulators that let you play 2-player games online? I know they have Final FIght 0 for the Gameboy Advanced, but how does it compare with the older ones?

Kaillera, my good friend. Allows you to play various MAME games online, although the people who use it are mostly voracious fighting game nuts like myself who yell "FAG" a dozen times or so when they lose. Occasionally, though, you'll run into some cool people who'll play you a game of Puzzle Fighter or Twinkle Star Sprites. Oh yeah, and broadband is definitely recommended, since laggy arcade games are pretty unplayable.

As for Final Fight 0, don't know, since I don't own a GBA. The general consensus is that it's yet another shallow, bare-bones SNES retread with very few new material. But hey, it's Final Fight. Haggar 4 Eva.

In FF Zero, you can play Street Fighter Alpha verison of Guy and Cody (No updated Haggar (BOO!)). You also cusmtize (sp) colors of the suits, extra stuff like rapid punch, 9 lives. They talk with the boss before they fight also, but I can't remeber they did in the orginal too.
