Man i just got back from seeing this movie and it was awesome. I'm so glad me and a couple friends spent 2 hours on a train to NYC. I was wondering who else saw it or is going to see it? What did you guys think of it?

You saw it in NYC too?! So did I!!!!!! Well as for how I thought about it, I'll quote what I said in another thread:

In this thread, I wrote:
I saw the FMA movie tonight in NYC, and I have to say it was beautiful. I've seen it before (via fansub, so it wasn't that good), but seeing it this time with a superb translation was amazing. The dubbing is some of the best I've seen out of all of the dubbed anime that I've watched in my life (I haven't watched the dub version that much). The popcorn was good, the theatre wasn't bad, and the movie was great a second time. Before the show they were doing some trivia stuff and people were winning free posters. I think the only reason they never picked on me to answer a question is because I wore a Bleach shirt (jk, but I think it'd be out of line to say that they're racist). Damn, did I want to win and bring home one of those kickass posters! Shit, I'd have settled for one of the DBZ posters they gave out, but damn do I wish I could've won one..... Well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be.... Either way, the movie made up for it, but most of the twists I already knew of, seeing as how I had already seen them in the fansub. I wonder what it woulda' been like seeing all the twists theatrically. Well, I'll stop rambling on. Anybody who has the chance to see this movie in theatres should definitely take advantage of the opportunity. IT IS WORTH IT!!!

Did you by chance happen to win one of those posters? I was so pissed when they didn't call on me for when they asked "when did FMA air last?" I was about to answer "Last night they did", but the lady was pointing to some girl behind me! I was about to rip her head off! Perhaps by chance you saw me (though I HIGHLY doubt it!). I was wearing a white Bleach t-shirt, with Ichigo shrouded in black and holding his Zangetsu above his head (I was the only one there wearing a Bleach t-shirt).

It was a thing of beauty, wasn't it?

At first I thought you were joking... but something tells me you're not.

FMA is the acronym for the Anime TV Series Fullmetal Alchemist. I see how it can be confusing if you know the correct spelling since "Fullmetal" is actually one word in the anime's title. Technically it should be "FA" to be considered an acronym... Rolling Eyes

B214 and Solidair was talking about the movie.

"FMA" stands for Fullmetal Alchemist, which premiered on Adult Swim is November 2004 and has since finished its run. Reruns air Monday-Thursday nights at 1:00am.

I got lucky, and found out I could go see it at the movie theatre that I can walk to... however, I decided not to go see it due to the fact the DVD would come out soon, and I was bound to buy the DVD so watching it in theatres with some younger fans might not be exactly too enjoyable Very Happy .

Dude, I'm a younger fan (14), and the people there were older than me and cheered much louder than I did. Everytime they showed a character in the opening credits, I felt like I'd go deaf. Even though there's cheering, it's really only in the beginning of the movie or when they show characters. Most of the time it'll be pretty silent. I HIGHLY recommend you see it if you have the opportunity, because it's one that you'll never forget.

I was just stereotyping heh, most of the people who post here no matter what age have enough sense. I just don't want any chances of some guy ruining this experience. I think I can wait a 1-2 weeks to see it.

The FMA movie is playing in my city too, but I'm just going to wait for the DVD release instead since it's only a month before its release. I'm not much of a moviegoer anyway and I prefer to watch movies on DVD as opposed to at the theaters in general. I can't even remember the last movie I went to go see at the theaters. I just prefer watching movies in private without having to deal with other annoying people and I like being able to watch it over and over again whenever I want. Plus, if I go see it in theaters now I'll probably have to wait until later to buy the DVD and I'd rather get the DVD as soon as I can, especially that limited edition. But I must say that I'm surprised that the FMA movie ended up being played here. I didn't think anime was that popular around here and I wonder how many people will end up going to see it.

I would have gone had it been tonight, but I'm not a teenager anymore and just didn't want to deal with getting home that late (I don't live in Manhattan) and still getting up for work this morning. And the only other showing is at midnight on Sunday. Who thought up these times? Why not early tonight instead and/or maybe a weekend matinee? I wonder if the timing is deliberate to keep the attendance smaller.

Guess it will be DVD rental for me, assuming it's going to show up at Blockbuster.
