That may have been the worst attempt at a sentence I have ever seen.. Shocked Something to be considered, however, is the name: 4KIDS. Note the key word, KIDS. The previous thread offers a very objective view; perhaps you should read it. I do not think highly of 4Kids, and I would never want them to try to dub a serious anime. But they are directing their marketing, dubbing, and everything else at KIDS. Now, it does make me sick to see 4Kids paraphenalia everywhere in stores (Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc.), but remember: They are giving anime to small children who will one day outgrow Pokemon and seek out better anime, thus helping build a stronger fanbase for anime. You *probably* didn't start watching Berserk at 5 years old, did you? You can't throw RahXephon at little kids and expect to make fans/money.

Umm... I think the Pokemon dub is actually great, even if the voice actors sound completely different from the original.

I love the pokemon dub as well. Although I may have grown out of pokemon and onto other anime, I definately that if 4kids hadn't done pokemon as well as they had i wouldn't like anime.

I have not seen enough Pokemon to give an objective review of the dub, but from what I have seen, it is above the average dub quality of other "kids" shows. Compared to most anime, it is mediocre at best, in my opinion. It could have been better, or a lot worse. I never got into the anime as much as the games, which, I must say, despite the unholy cuteness and redundant storylines, are some of the best games created(solely the Game Boy ones) While I keep anything from 4Kids at swordlength(3'6") away, I appreciate the work they do to introduce children to anime.

Here you are complaining about 4Kids dubbing when you can't even type a single sentence right. Man.

I think it's in Engrish. As for 4kids, IMO they did a good job with the Pokemon and Yugioh dubs. Just remember this, they're kids shows. You should really just relax.

Sometimes I find myself being sucked into Yugioh and I don't know why. I flip channels and bam! I'm watching monster strategy at its weirdest. I really like the voice of the main character. You think they teach voice actors hypnotic tricks?

Its strange when you notice your drinking alcohol and watching kids shows, its the damnedest thing. Laughing

The sentace doesn't seem to fit the guidelines of Engrish.

Quote:
Q. What are common Engrish mistakes?

A. Regarding the Japanese use of English, common mistakes are most often attributed to the vast differences in their phonetic and grammatical structures as well as how the languages are used.

The most common mistakes due to phonetic differences are as follows:
1. The inability to differentiate between "R" and "L" (the Japanese "R" being closer to the Spanish "R" with a trill sound); samples found within Engrish.com include "Eric Crapton"and the word "Engrish" itself. Other famous examples include the misuse of the word "erection" (instead of "election").
2. The pronunciation "shi" (or "shee") vs. "see". Common mistakes found are variations on "shit" vs. "sit" - there have been a number of reported sightings of "baby-shitter" in place of "baby-sitter", and you can find one instance of "shituation" in place of "situation" within Engrish.com.
3. Lack of “th” or “v” sounds in Japanese - "th" is often replaced with an "s" sound, while "b" is most often substituted for "v".
4. The Japanese inability to pronounce various vowel sounds found in the English language. The Japanese language contains only 5 basic vowel sounds: "a" as in "ah", "i" as in "eee", "u" pronounced like "ooo", "e" pronounced like "eh", and "o" pronounced like "oh". Such confusion in vowel sounds can lead to examples like "fack you!" in place of "f*ck you", etc.

Grammatical mistakes vary but there are a few common errors that English teachers in Japan see on a daily basis:
1. Using a noun as a verb with "Let's" as in: "Let's beer" or "Let's Kiosk"
2. Redundant wording such as: "Let's play with me!"
3. Dispense with connecting words. Example: "I feel Coke"

You must be thoroughly bored by now.... no more examples

The dubbing certainly isn't a problem with them. Many of their in-house actors have several years of experience doing popular roles. (by "in-house" I mean doing several different shows for 4Kids)

-Dan Green (Yugioh, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Pokemon, Grave of the Fireflies, Shaman King, Utena, and many others)

-Mike Pollock (Berserk, Ultimate Muscle, Magic User's Club, Pokemon, Yugioh, and others)

-Eric Stuart (Pokemon, Slayers, Yugioh, Ultimate Muscle, Here is Greenwood, Grappler Baki, and others)

-Tara Jayne (Ah! My Godess the Movie, Berserk, Maze, Photon, Rurouni Kenshin, Pokemon, Rayearth, and many more)

-Ted Lewis (Pokemon, Slayers, Here is Greenwood, Lodoss War, Birdy the Mightly, and others)

-Jimmy Zoppi (Alien 9, Ping Pong Club, Pokemon, Utena, Slayers, and others)

-Lisa Ortiz (Blue Gender, Slayers, Pokemon, Sonic X, Boogiepop Phantom, Kare Kano, and many others)

-Sean Schemmel (Dragonball, Dragonball Z, Shaman King, Blue Gender, Yu Yu Hakusho, and a couple others)

Some of these actors have been in the industry longer than most people have been fans.

I agree with the 4Kids not mixing with anime thing... they should stick to bugs bunny and rugrats, but why Working Designs?

Even though there a video game company,to me they show alot of potential, also they did a very good job of translating Lunar one +two into english. I bet they could do a better job blindfolded than 4kids.

Yes they do. Shocked I don't mind 4Kids at all and I think the dubbing is good for a "kids" show. It didn't annoy the hell outta me, so yeah it's OK in my book. Cool

I can't help but feel a bit sheepish though when I think how I used to look forward to watching Yugioh every Saturday morning. Embarassed
DAMN YOU Yami Yugi and your unusually deep voice!
