I guess it'd be like pulling teeth to try to convince FUNimation to license this, huh? Sad

Fantastic! The original manga was great (what was published in English) and I absolutely loved the anime adaptation.

More of that is something to look forward to!

Oh wow this is interesting news. I really enjoyed reading the manga. Never watched the TV series, but I saw a few episodes back when Newtype USA was around and I was thoroughly impressed. I wonder what the special will cover. Glad that this is making a little comeback.

Great! Now cover the rest of the original manga. There's enough material for a 2 cour second season.

I'm looking forward to this. It also reminds me that I need to give the TV series another rewatch soon.

I think this is perfect, the standalone nature of each episode made it very enjoyable because nowadays most show need a continuing storyline. A balance between the two styles is important to the future of anime. An the episodic story telling meaning they can do one shot episodes every once and awhile.

Second season would have been even better but any more Mushishi is a wonderful thing. Smile

I would buy it. I'm wondering if it'll have some new music composed though, since Mushishi has one of the best scores ever.

If anybody here is interested, we've got Mushishi fandom communities over at Livejournal and Dreamwidth that are waking up again with this recent good news. Smile

LJ - http://mushishi.livejournal.com/
DW - http://urushibara-works.dreamwidth.org/

The Livejournal one has been around for about 7 years now, ever since the airing of the first anime episodes.
