I'll eat my hat (and maybe post a video of it) if Funi gets the original Haruhi cast back. Spoiler: They won't. They'll get maybe one person back from the original and do the rest in-house (just like Trigun!)

They didn't get the original Fafner cast back despite a good number of them still being around, they only brought back Bosch for Trigun: Badlands, they had trouble retaining two of their own for DxD3 and they shuffled around VAs for the Evangelion dubs (despite a couple being in the dubs but in different roles!)

AND YET.... They got the entire original cast back for Hellsing: Ultimate and Black Lagoon, the majority of the original cast back for Slayers, BlazBlue and Hyperdimension Neptunia, and a rather healthy portion of the cast back for the Sengoku Basara series.

So that logic don't exactly fly. You might be eating your hat sooner than later.

Well, Yuki Nagato is one of the later simuldubs they're gonna work on, so maybe the extra time is being used to get a Bang Zoom dub done and/or situated. Thats just wishful thinking though. I'd like to think they'd go the extra mile and get the original cast, at the very least Kyon and Haruhi are a couple of the "main things" that Crispin Freeman and Wendee Lee are known for in the Dubbed Anime scene, it wouldn't seem right to have someone else voice them.

Crispin Freeman only does union dubs. Do you really think Funi will EVER do a union dub? Yeah, total recast incoming.

Well, it is a bit harder to get a cast back in week to week dub then doing a whole show lump sum before a physical release.

But as EmperorBrandon said, most of the cast is active in DRR 2 so it's poooooossible.

AbZeroNow, sometimes what Funi will do is have another company do the recording and Funi will release the home video. That's what they did the most recent Slayers series.

Funi also wants nothing more to do with Slayers, so there's that too.

I would love for them to contract with Bang Zoom, but they won't. So get ready for Lindsay Seidel as Nagato and Clifford Chapin as Kyon, folks because Funimation is rushing, rushing those dubs and they won't spend the money when they can just dub it all in Texas.

OK, you got me on those (Those were done by New Generation).

Since they are rushing out the Broadcast dub for it, I'd venture to say that chances are that they are pulling a Dangaronpa or Trigun:Badlands. If they decided to wait(and let's be honest, rushing is why Scott Freeman won't be Issei for this season. They aren't going to get him for the home video version), then I would think they would had a chance.

Wrong again. They explained on FUNi's forums that Scott and Teri had to be recast due to issues completely unrelated to the timing of the dub. They specifically said that no amount of waiting would've changed the outcome, meaning that either they have quit voice acting or some other personal matter came up. But it certainly wasn't because they decided to broadcast dub it.

Thank god Funimation is simuldubbing Ninja Slayer that's the best news I've heard all day. Oh and I'm really looking forward to watching the broadcast dub of Show by Rock.

Yeah, that's gonna be rather interesting, heh, should be fun dubbed.

Nice! Can't wait to watch Arslan, Blood Blockade Battlefront, Ninja Slayer, and Seraph's dubs right away when they get posted.

Also, love that Assassination Classroom dub so far.

The way some people are confidently throwing their assumptions around on this thread, you'd think they have personal contact with Funi themselves.

Ya'll itching to prematurely speculate and come to conclusions based on generalizations or flaky evidence? Okay, cool. How about this: Mike McFarland is currently out in LA "...to work on secret stuff and things."

This has to be for Haruhi, right? So there won't be a total recast, right?

Who knows. I don't give a rat's butt whether there's a recast or not for a show that I don't care for anyway.

But since it's so easy to negatively assume there will be a total recast, why can't we turn into some positivity? Maybe there won't be a total recast?

Keep an open mind on things, instead of jumping to conclusions. Particularly, the worst case scenario. (Or, if we want to be really, really clever? Wait until the cast is actually announced? Then complain, rejoice, whatever.)

christ jesus lol.

I understand why people are worrying about Yuki-chan getting recast, but they've outsourced dubs to California before - that's what happened with Hellsing. I really don't think they'd be stupid enough to try and recast a show with as iconic an English cast as Haruhi Suzumiya. In fact, it's a big enough deal in this case that if they weren't able to get the original actors back I feel they probably wouldn't even bother dubbing it at all.

At least with recasts, Funi might be consistent than with the Fate/ franchise as the various licensors have meant that there have been at 4 dub VA for Saber.

Actually funimation won't be dubbing ninja slayer.
Rather they will be restoring the original English audio which they recently discovered in some long lost archive.
