WOW. Not surprised that Osomatsu san is on top but the units sold is pretty amazing. O_O I think we're pretty much guaranteed a second season.

How much did UtaPri sell at the peak of its popularity?

Given the surge of Osomatsu themed fanarts (especially the yaoi type), I'm not exactly surprised the show did so well.

Welp, I guess Osomatsu san destroyed those numbers. Though I suppose it helps that Osomatsu san appeals to more than just girls. Thank goodness I'm buying my BDs from HMV. I don't want to imagine the line to pick up pre-orders at Animate considering I dreaded every time I had to pick up something when a CD or BD/DVD of UtaPri came out.

Man I hope I get the lottery for the event!

With it's popularity would not be surprise if it gets a movie as well.

Was really hoping that Prison School and Chivalry of a Failed Knight would do better. At least, with Chivarly, I'm fine with there not being a 2nd season, as I liked the end point well enough.

Prison School is the one I want to see more anime made for...

So does this Osomatsu-san volume have one of those event ticket application or something? Or no extras at all?

If it's the latter, I will be doubly amazed.

Including the even larger 43k DVD buyers

It certainly wasn't in any most-anticipated lists

That sure makes for a lot more interesting

When breaking expectations and status quo

That's not true, it was reasonably high in several Japanese most-anticipated lists, especially among women. (Ranking behind anticipated sequels like Haikyuu! and Noragami Arigato is no shame for a new series.) It's true that it got far less hype in the US, but that's not all that relevant for Japanese sales.

However, certainly we all agree that it performed enormously well. Being a well-known Japanese property with a history with the general Japanese public probably didn't hurt with getting some mass appeal in Japan.

The general trend of "shows with a higher female audience split sell a higher percentage of DVDs compared to Blu-Rays" continues, as expected.

Yep vol1 and vol2 gonna have event tickets so can expect for both to have around 100k sells BD+DVD and for vol3 it is said that its gonna have 50% less since no ticket so 50k alltogether which is still good.

Congratulations Osomatsu-san!! The sextuplets ain't seeing a dime from this but, hell yeah!! So, can we consider this the next Free! in terms of popular fujoshi series (minus the fact it's based off a 50+ year old manga/series)
