I agree with Sakurako being a hit or miss. I had to force myself to watch it in the earlier episodes, but I admit that it also gets good, which makes me want to continue watching. Also, I always laugh when Sakurako goes in, what I call, "Bones mode."

Sakurakos investigation not getting a dunb release from Sentai is still a travesty. This show was very worthy of a dub in my opinion. Another reason im not a big fan of Sentai

I'm surprised and at the same time not surprised Sentai didn't dub Beautiful Bones. Surprised because it had a mostly positive response and not surprised as it was a very low key show that not many people were interested in. maybe if it sells well they will do a dub later like they did with Mayo Chiki.

For what should have been a quirky detective series, I thought that it was more interested in being Pet Girl of Shotaro than Sakurako Holmes. Cutting him out entirely would have been an improvement for me.

Being a quality and a "worthy title" really have nothing to do with it. If a show isn't that popular, it's unlikely that they will spend the money to dub it. I really liked the show and would have loved to see it get dubbed. However, I can definitely see why they didn't. As others have said, the best hope is that maybe sales will exceed expectations and they may decide to go back and dub it later. However, that seems to happen less often, so that's probably a long shot. |

Not my DVDs, but back then I did put some of my music CDs in a binder. Big mistake, even if you carefully remove/insert them it will inevitable begin to scratch them up. Certainly not doing that anymore.

I just want to point out that there are still no product pages for these recent rereleases of Gundam 0083.

Nadesico and Gundam 0083 in the same article! Ever does this come as welcome news to seasoned mecha veterans. They really did get to burning.

This is what many fans don't understand or they're just very naive about these things. It never ceases to amaze me that people don't understand that this is STILL a business at its core. It's not about art first, guys. The companies have to make money to stay in business and they will NOT spend more than they have to on shows that just won't ever be big sellers. Now why would they SELL such shows? Licensing agreements... Sometimes, the licensing companies don't get much choice. To get one show, they have to take 2-3 sometimes that nobody would normally touch. Those 2-3 aren't going to be ones that get big pushes if they only have a hand full of States-side fans. I am amazed that some shows STILL get BD releases despite being sub-only BUT decisions had to be made and it was decided in those cases the dub wasn't worth it to sell MAYBE a few dozen or hundred more copies of said-shows. BD's that are sub-only still happen because that's where the shift and focus for anime COLLECTORS is. I have to admit I buy very little on DVD unless a series ISN'T available on BD. |

I know this is all just pointless arguing but had Funimation gotten the rights to the show we would have probably seen an English Dub. I clearly understand the business model but you need to remember there have been alot more Sentai titles that dont get an English Dub anymore. {Edit: Please refrain from excessive quoting.. Yeah, there are a lot of shows that I love and I would be ecstatic if they were dubbed. However, I'm not delusional enough to think that they will sell the 10-15k copies needed to break even on the dub. {Edit: Please refrain from excessive quoting.. I edited your post for you. ~ Psycho 101} |

I agree with you. If Funimation had picked up Beautiful Bones they would probably have given it a dub. Funimation's approach to dubs seems to be "we are going to try to dub everything but will release sub only what looks like possibly low sellers." While Sentai's stance seems to be "we prefer doing sub-only releases to minimize loses, but we are dubbing shows that look like good to great sellers". |

Probably, but far from a guarantee. Funimation is no longer refusing to release shows sub-only, even some with fairly sizable and vocal groups of fans. Looking at the rankings of the show, and that fact that several shows with similar themes have failed to sell here, Funimation could have easily gone sub-only for it. Don't forget that they have a pretty big new back catalogue of shows to dub and release due to their deal with CR, and some of those shows definitely won't sell enough to justify a dub. Though we have no idea how they will be handling the less popular CR shows yet. But it's pretty much all pointless conjecture at this point. If Funimation had really wanted the show, they probably could have outbid Sentai for it. For whatever reason, they didn't. |

I have a lot of DVDs stored in Tyvek sleeves, because the original packaging was too risky to the disks. Either I was terrified of cracking the disks trying to remove them from impossibly tight cases, I was worried about scratching from stacked disks on a center hub (which are annoying anyway), or in the case of Kenshin box sets, to keep the cardboard slots from etching the disks, since they were apparently not made from acid-free cardboard and were already forming a faintly visible line across the disk face. Anyway, the Tyvek is disk-friendly and easy to store, so if you want to store disks out of their keep cases or need to for the space, I recommend them. I prefer them with flaps (to put labels on) and without windows, but those are really hard to come by for some reason. On another note, is that really the cover art they're going with for that Naruto release? Gods, is that butt ugly and out of proportion. |
