I don't know anything about Japanese billboards, but is there a reason why it's cube-shaped?

That's really cool. We have anti-billboard laws here (but there many a mural), and I wouldn't really want to change that, but walking around Japan and seeing this kind of stuff is awesome.

It's not actually cube shaped if you look at the angle carefully. it's more like it's folded outward slightly in half. My guess is that building behind the billboard is couple meters receded backward against neighboring building on left, so they had to fold out the billboard to look prominent among passerby vehicles and pedestrians. |
