Out of the two kids'-demographic Gundam shows that are currently running, I think I prefer Sangoku Soketsuden's "Romance of the Three Kingdoms with biker gangs and techno-organic zombies" premise to Re:RISE's "the gunpla-compatible MMORPG that Bandai Namco has always wished they could make" premise. (Of course, the fact that I exclusively collect SD gunpla means that I'm just always going to be personally biased towards whichever installment has the potential to produce the most cutesy model kits. Sangoku Soketsuden is a clear winner there, as it has resulted in a steady stream of absolutely jaw-dropping additions to my collection. Its version of the Nightingale - which you get by combining pieces from both the Sinanju and the Kshatriya - is one of the best-looking SD kits in years. Be prepared for a ton of painting, though.)

Now, I suspect that both of these shows would be getting some major backlash from the more "traditional" Gundam fans if we weren't now being promised at least one Universal Century project a year. As it stands, though, this part of the franchise has basically become a necessary evil: its kid-oriented (and, presumably, focus-grouped) premise ensures that the franchise will have yet another generation of viewers, its cool designs will extract money from adult collectors who care more about the quality of the model kits than the quality of the shows they are from, and it keeps Gundam on TV and in the minds of Japanese consumers.

Meta-commentary aside, though, I thought that the second episode was much better than the first, and I really like the design of the Valkylander, so I'm probably going to keep watching this one.

Episode 3 was (so far) the best episode of the season for me, so I'm really liking this. I'm not a Gundam fan at all (having absolutely no interest in the main timeline) but Divers was one of my favorites from the year it aired, and Builders was also great (haven't watched Try yet) so this one has its job cut out for itself.

I think Ban-rise really want to ensure the quality of GBD-RR (or at least improving from GBD) by replacing the writer of GBD with the writer of Gundam Unicorn OVAs and by giving the animating job to former Xebec studio (before going under Sunrise's wing) which is a veteran when it comes to producing quality mecha shows. The studio is now called Sunrise Beyond and GBD-RR is their debut full-show anime.

Four episodes in and the writing of GBD-RR is already better than GBD so far.

I hope other characters from Builds Divers other than Magee comeback(like the real Build Divers). Though this show is currently five episodes in so it's still too early to say.

Anime aside...

I like what this is doing for the marketing of kits. I've always liked module designed mechs and by going this route so hard in GBD:RR they've started pushing their production to do some nice things that make kit bashing a lot easier and more compatible to your average kit builder.

The scene at the beginning and the scenes at the end suggest that everything up to now was just a prelude and the real story starts next episode. I hope so.

While so far vastly better than the last Divers series, I miss them actually Constructing things. Why do they all build the way they do, why do they participate? I like this ongoing plot a bit, but at the same time I wonder where it'll go.

I have to echo the sentiment here as well. I was expecting some moral to this arc of his. Maybe losing and no kills can be good. Maybe his team would appreciate him for sacrificing himself so the rest could escape and he'd find new meaning in being a team player. Naaaaah. Got a point, all is well.

From how damaged the Captains suit is im expecting he will get a new one.

Do agree on missing the "building" aspect however (particularly how much the older series showed actual kits). I do prefer that we are getting a proper narrative this time rather than fight of the week. Still hasn't hit the heights of Build Fighters however.

Or was I seeing things or was there a shot of Hiroto on the game side back during the game vs AI war from the first Divers?

You were not seeing things, no. Honestly I recall it being mentioned previously that Hiroto took part in that battle so I'm not really surprised. Honestly my current theory is that, if Eve existed at the same time as Sarah, there are two possible outcomes: 1) Eve was discovered and transferred out of the game and saved. Or 2) since the system was likely patched after she was pulled from the game to prevent a collapse, Eve might have been completely wiped in the process, and this could lead to a grudge of sorts against the Build Divers since they saved Sarah, but not Eve.

Just a note: it's EL Diver, May's an Electronic Lifeform, not Spanish...

Hiroto, who got injured in real life after a digital mission, and May, an honest-to-goodness El Diver are clued in to what's really at stake, but they haven't told Kazami and Parviz for increasingly unforgiveable reasons.

I mean, do you want May & Hiroto to straight up tell Kazami that everything is real and that he can possibly be mortally wounded during the mission like Hiro did?

Hiroto & May are probably just being pragmatic considering their characters. If they told him before the "Last Mission", Kazami would most likely just bail out from the game and everything would've been ruined. Considering Kazami's character, do you really think that he'd be willing to put his life on the line for the Eldorans knowing that he can die in the process? Probably not. Remember, to go with the story mission, all four of them have to log in. If Kazami bailed, May & Hiroto wouldn't even be able to enter Eldora at all, let alone helping the people there.

Compared to the others 2 cours animes currently airing, it doesn't seem like there is any information for the episode count for now, can we hope for a 4 cours ? Anyway, today's episode 12 was by far my favorite, it renewed the excitement i gradually lost weeks ago.

Oh freakin' yes! Episode 12 is legit!! Here's hoping they won't delay the next episode due to Christmas holiday so that we can quickly see the aftermath.
