I wonder if this will get released in the West because of the Arthur Conan Doyle Foundation.

Well, Taku Kishimoto (easily my favorite anime writer right now) and a cool visual is all I need. I'm in Very Happy

What do you mean? Kabukichou Sherlock was available to stream in the West without any issues. There were no name changes in the subs...

Wasn't Moriarty described as being really ugly in the novel? Not a blond hunk of a man.

If you're looking for a faithful retelling of the source material from Moriarty's perspective, this ain't it. It is through and through a new spin on Doyle's concept.

I think, the fact that "James Moriarty" are brothers instead of one person should tell you that this isn't exactly faithful retelling.

I never expected a faithful retelling, even before I clicked on it. I just find it funny how polar opposite he looks.

The Conan Doyle Estate, Ltd., which was responsible for copyright-trolling Holmes-related media in the US, (different from the Conan Doyle Literary Estate, which maintains that the Estate, Ltd. doesn't even own the US rights in the first place) went to court over the film Mr. Holmes and lost. Then they appealed and lost again. The ruling (which I believe only the supreme court could overturn now) is that Holmes the character is public domain in the US and only the actual text and details of one book of stories remains under copyright.
I've heard that they're trying to go after people based on trademark law now, but I don't know what's come of that.
