Whenever I looked at it, I always thought I would be horrified to grow up as a kid in Japan having To Love-Ru advertised to me. So... this is kind of satisfying?

People should be able to write whatever manga they want but maybe don't market porn at kids, is all I'm saying.

You think Sorachi dodged the bullet after so much violence with nudist Kondo?

To be fair the average jump reader nowadays is not a kid. Most people reading Jump nowadays are in their late teens or are adults. The magazine was always intended for teens not kids anyway. The magazine targeted at kids is CoroCoro Comic.

Corocoro is for little kids, but a lot of teens are still pretty much kids. I guess I dunno what Jump "officially" says it's targeting though.

All of you who missed the point of the petition, should ask a woman how she feels about this.

I totally respect and understand those who find those series bad or gross, whatever jump readership now is formed most by teens and young adults, children are a small portion of the readership, and you can always ignore those series. Besides that just throwing blame at fiction, because of real life problems, is something that I find silly and a waste of time. We should change the sexism in the editorial department of jump, we need more women editors, (not that his is gonna change the content of the mangas, is even a little sexist to allude, that womans would make those comics more pure or girly friendly.)
Besides that 4000 signatures is too little, Yunna-san had more signatures than this in their popularity pool

A lot of women write and like ecchi series. Woman aren't a single unit, with the same view and thoughts. They're a diverse group of people, with different views and perceptions of the world and the works they consume

The way I read this piece is that he somehow didn't get his sexual education from either his parents or his school and blames WSJ for it. If it takes you until university to realize that unwanted sexual acts with someone else is not done then it clearly isn't WSJ's fault.

I also fail to see how his example about his lack of capability of distinguishing between fantasy and reality works? What year was he in when that incident happened? If it was near the end of his elementary school days then it has less to do with fantasy vs reality and more to do with the beginning of puberty and bad sexual education by the parents/elementary school.

After reading a bit further he still can't distinguish between fantasy vs reality even after being "educated" as nobody gets hurt in these "unwanted" sexual acts between characters that 1) don't exist, 2) don't have feelings, and 3) can't possible think for themselves and thus makes the consent argument a moot point.

Why is there a swastika in their logo? And yes, I know it's a general religious symbol in the east without fascist connotations, but even in that contect I don't see the point.

Domestic Girlfriend
Strawberry 100%
Lilim kiss
Nozoki Ana
Sekirei
Chu-Bra
Kodomo no Jikan
Hatsukoi Limited
Okusama ga Seito kaicho
No Game No Life (manga)
Minamoto-kun Monogatari
Haruwaka
Kimi wa Midara na Boku no Joou
Velvet Kiss

Just to mention some ecchi manga made by female authors,

Quote:
others argue that the depictions of sexual violence are not endorsements, and that if sexual violence warrants content warnings or explanatory notes, then so should any other form of violence. Including notes for each and every potentially objectionable point would break the flow of the manga.

This is the real point. Where to start and where to finish with this warnings.

This magazine is primarily intended for boys between the ages of 12 and 18 so basically for junior high school and senior high school boys that are mature enough to read this things and understand the difference between reality and fiction.

In one of the Jump popularity pools of Yunna-san characters there were 10685 votes.

I'm a bit confused by the phrase "trended online" in this case. 4000 signatures on change.org is basically nothing, especially after getting signal boosted by news sites. Maybe it was a hot discussion on Japanese twitter, but if that's the case it's hard to imagine it being a favorable one with such a low number of signatures. I've seen Japanese tweets on this subject that got tens of thousands of likes, so I don't really understand what makes this petition notable.

This was my takeaway as well. My friends and I watched a lot of fanservicey anime in highschool like DxD, yet none of us went around thinking it was okay to flip skirts. To say "I couldn't differentiate fantasy from reality, therefore nobody else can" is just dumb.

Despite the recent shift in the readership to older teens, Jump still targets younger kids too. Who do you think Me & Roboco is for?

Even with very reasonable demands, there’s always someone ready to resist because fiction has no effect on reality, even on children and teens who are still impressionable, supposedly

That said, going after WSJ feels like just trying to alleviate the symptom instead of going after the root cause. Better sex education, and more female voices in the workspace are the key components, but they are more systemic problems that is harder to solve. I guess making it trending and having people talk about it and show some pushback to the status quo in a way is a small step though.

Well part of the issue is that with non-media releases (books and video games) they do not have the same level of censorship as the media (TV and film), so I can see some good in this, though part of the issues with petitions is that they don't always work due to the fact corporations tend to ignore them. However, I agree with this petition since the need to avoid the risk of underage readers getting ahold of this stuff is necessary since there is no way of telling how this can affect them.

At least none of the manga I've used is not too high-rated to which there is no sexual content, but for something like perversion, I can agree with that to help avoiding encouraging it.

Nudity is definitely not something new in Shonen Jump. In fact, mangas in the early 90s like Video Girl Ai got censored becsuse they showed too much.
