Great news. This is a sign that Yamato is here for the long term if they cast some of Hayamins stature to voice her.

Well Miyuki Sawashiro was Pudding in the previous arc and Megumi Hayashibara as Rebecca. They've been leveraging popular VA's for a minute.


Wasn't expecting Hayami tho, at least her using a cadence closer to her natural voice. Expected a much tougher voice for Yamato.

Well the Wano arc is still ongoing in the manga so we will see. I personally hope so because I like him even through I was hoping for another female crew member. I do believe if he is added that would put Luffy's entire crew number he was hoping for at the right number (someone correct me if I'm wrong). What would his position in the crew be however?

My guess was Yuu Kobayashi until they cast her as Black Maria then Ami Koshimizu. I'm Hayami will do great as Yamato though.

Back when Yamato was introduced in the manga I expected Toei to get Yuu Kobayashi to voice Yamato. Funny that she ended up voicing Black Maria instead, especially when you consider that Black Maria is likely Yamato's mother. I had also expected them to get Mai Nakahara to voice Ulti. Toei has been throwing me for a loop lately. I envision the perfect voice for these characters when reading the manga, but then they get someone else. Not that I'm complaining. Saori Hayami is an excellent voice actress.

The last time I was able to correctly predict the voice actors in One Piece pre-anime was with Ceasar Clown and Cavendish.

Funny how we both thought that. I guess she would have been a good choice as Yamato.

That's definitely not Hayamin's usual role and voice range but she can pull it off without a hitch for sure.

Hayami is a legendary seiyuu and her voice fits pretty well. I'm just glad to finally see Yamato animated

Huh? Yamato is 28 and Black Maria is only one year older.

I stand corrected then. I never would have guessed without looking at the One Piece Wiki. I assumed Black Maria was older due to being of the giant race. I mean Kaido has got to be in his 50s at least if he was an apprentice to Rocks 40 years ago.
