So they haven't confirmed if this is taken from the original camera negative or a digital upscale?

Discotek's DVD release looks like it was mastered from film, so I hope the HD remaster will use the same source. The product description says the pilot film will be upscaled, though.

Hopefully, this will lead to a future BD release in the US. I watched the OVA on Crunchyroll (before CR went all in on premium), and I would love to re-watch this in HD, and given a full HD restoration.
