IMO, I wouldn't mind seeing that being considered given that audio drama/narrative fiction podcast have to started to gained popularity in the US in the last few years and I believe I have a poll topic on audio drama podcast and anime one. And that's all I have to say because I have said it over and over again that audio drama podcast are already catching on popularity in the US.

That sounds like something we'd want to have in the encyc, but in what form? Do we create a full entry like anime#24063? Seems a bit overkill to me since it's just the original seiyuus reprising their roles. It might be simpler as a "release" entry under the original anime? I'm honestly on the fence here.

It's up to you to make that call Dan. However, I would say yes to this, create a full entry if the anime (or manga) has an audio drama. It's not only anime and manga that may get audio drama. I mean nowadays, audio drama have already gained popularity since the pandemic and the audio streaming platform have started to added/included podcasts into it like Youtube, & Spotify (Spotify added the podcast thing in 2015 as I recalled). It's not only anime, but several of our voice actors, and screen actors/celebrities are also lending their voices to audio drama podcasts like for example, Jason Spisak and Reba Buhr are the voices of Batman and Catwoman for a currently ongoing Batman audio drama respectively. Speaking of Batman, another audio drama, Batman Unburied, beside the English version, the audio drama had a Japanese-language adaptation version and 2 actresses, Mika Nakashima, and Rena Matsui lend their voices for the Japanese-language version. I included all the actor/actresses audio drama work (Jason, Reba, Mika, and Rena) for ANN encyclopedia entries. So yes, I would recommend making entries for audio drama based on anime/manga because I expect because of the proliferation of podcasts and also our anime VAs are probably going to do audio drama not only based on anime/manga, but outside of anime/manga like in the case of Jason and Reba for DC High Volume: Batman audio drama. |
