So, a scummy person sells an overpriced piece of paper to the son of a scummy person from the tangerine's first term in office? Guess scumbags stick together.

It's amazing how Logan Paul is just an utterly irredeemably awful person on every possible level, just completely devoid of redeeming qualities and a living indictment of the human race that he's popular and successful, and yet somehow he's not even the worst person in his immediate family.

Obvious scamming aside, now the card can be freed from that god-awful chain.

Couldn't agree more. Both of their success is a sorry metaphor for the state of modern society.

Finished your comment in my head after “scummy person” LOL Logan and Jake’s parents and Anthony must be all so proud.

American news outlet Polygon reported that hours after the auction concluded, accusations and speculation arose on social media regarding the grade and ownership of the card. According to Polygon, the accusations claimed that Paul acquired a PSA 9 Pikachu Illustrator card in 2021, then had it regraded to a PSA 10.

However, Paul initially bought a PSA 9 graded Pikachu Illustrator card from collector Matt Allen for US$1.275 million in June 2021, setting a Guinness World Record for "Most Expensive Pokémon Trading Card Sold at a Private Sale." One month later, Paul then acquired the PSA 10 card (the one that later went on auction for US$16.492 million) from a collector in Dubai, trading his PSA 9 Pikachu Illustrator card and paying US$4 million./i]

This does not capture the whole story. The card sold at auction was originally graded a 9 and resubmitted to PSA multiple times before PSA slipped up and gave the card a 10. We know the card was originally a 9 because the holopatterns (apparently, I can't really tell myself, but the people who really care about this stuff can) on old cards like this are unique, making it easy to tell them apart. Back in the day, PSA only charged a flat rate, meaning you could get cards regarded very cheaply if you wanted. The fact that PSA has graded so many versions of this card, when only 41 exist, is also anecdotal evidence. Also, if you look at the scans of the card (provided by PSA), you can see noticeable damage that would downgrade the card to at least a 9.

All that being said, the above information is true, as Logan was not the one who did it; it was someone who owned the card before.

There is one other word that I would like to say about Logan Paul but I would rather not run foul of violating 'Teh Rules'. What I can say is that it is really frustrating that an interesting card is in the possession of someone that does not care about the Pokemon franchise, they just want to say they have it and use it a status symbol.

Things like this are making it nearly impossible to play certain card games just for fun. People buy up everything from shops thinking they're going to clean up by open pieces of cardboard with shiny art on them.

Even putting aside Logan being scummy, I think it's really foolish to spend this much money on a piece of cardboard.

I assure you this promo card is far from meta and has no baring on your ability to play the game.

Most cards that people chase in TCGs are rare alt arts. If you just want to play the game you can do so very easily and quite cheap.
