Daemons of the Shadow Realm and Liar Game will go for me. I will watch Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You and You and I Are Polar Opposites S2. Space Battleship Yamato 3199 will conclude this season and I will watch Patlabor EZY: File 2 and Sekiro: No Defeat on the movie side.
I will give Cyborg 009: Nemesis a look out of curiosity and will power through the Saru´s GitS adaptation. The 300-something source volume is a mixed bag with worse side/sequels that never concluded but at least it’s now directly adapted and we can move on. A Witch’s Life in Mongol, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Exceeds Gun Blaze Vengeance, Link Click S3, Recommendation From Mr Iwamoto, Red River and The World is Dancing all get a mild recommendation. |

I could have used another week to properly clean up the spring season but oh well.
I wish I enjoyed the premiere of The World Is Dancing. I admired the wonderful animation, presentation and creativity on display but because I could not care less about dancing as a subject I was zoning out before the episode was over. From Overshadowed to Overpowered failed to make me feel anything positive about the premise/mc. Despite not having the aptitude for magic the mc managed to work himself up to the top. Instead of being proud of that result he ends his life acting so dramatic that you would think that he never had any magic at all. The Oblivious Saint Can't Contain Her Power does absolutely nothing special nor does it offer anything that might be worth sticking around for (as of yet). I can not even really muster any complaints about it, it is just there. The Cat and the Dragon I want to see more of due to the first episode feeling like a complete special. I just hope that the kitty killing is something that is not going to be repeated. Heroine? Saint? No, I'm an All-Works Maid has a fair bit of charm to it and the idea of Melody using her magic in all kinds of absurd ways seems fun. |

GoHands continuing to be the studio that exemplifies "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."

There's a minor typo at the top of the guide, welcoming us to the spring preview.
Nothing has grabbed me yet but hopefully we'll get a couple good ones. I know it's the season of beaches, BBQs, and vacations, but there's always time for a little distraction here and there. |

World Is Dancing was a very affecting start to the season. Loved the way the opening scene setting neatly established some core ideas about finding beauty (and in beauty, life) amidst squalor, as a man appreciates a flower blooming on a battlefield dyed red from the bodies littered everywhere. And Toshimasa Kuroyanagi remains as effective a boarder as ever in expounding on this naturally across the episode, where repeated shots of abandoned human skulls starting to be enveloped by greenery are always there to remind the audience of the ugliness and danger underlying this setting. An equally excellent job was done in presenting "What are humans formed for" not just as a philosophical question but as a matter of the episode's composition itself. We are provided the the steadfast and methodical movement of Oniyasha's father (solidly grounded within a traditional dance troupe venue) so as to then have the rug pulled out from under us by the uninhibited "unnatural" movements of the woman Oniyasha comes across (glimpsed by reaching out to the secluded corners of the world like a dark and dense forest). A rug pull so thorough that the animation itself breaks down into impressionistic wisps of energy and motion until we're left with only a vague semblance of the human form in a select few brush strokes
And all that is supported by a strong and vibrant color palette throughout. Special mention goes to the instant shift from soft twilight hues to the sky and river being drowned out in a dark blood red as Oniyasha declares the pointlessness of lashing out at the sorry state of the world through dance - which then gets ironically reversed on him, as the red begins to seep into the moon as a visualization of the madness overtaking him, driving him to become "good" like that woman. Though he still has a long way to go, beautifully encapsulated by his dreaming getting the better of him as he falls right into a river believing the open air to be his stage. Excited to see where this gremlin goes from here |

There's actually a seventh movie coming out at the end of October: animenewsnetwork.com/news/2026-06-25/7th-be-forever-yamato-rebel-3199-film-reveals-title-visual-october-30-premiere/.238940 I'll probably be spending the next couple weeks watching most of what sounds even remotely interesting (and available). A handful of continuing/returning shows are pretty much locked, a couple new ones sound promising, maybe add a couple "junk food" series to watch over lunch. And squeeze in a rewatch of Zombie Land Saga before watching the movie, which is finally available in the US. |

Kinda wished the cat in cat dragon acted more like cat, but by having them behave in such a human like fashion (plus talking, casting magic, close knit society/family), you kinda lose the "cat-ness" of them.

All-Works Maid was not on my radar for this season, but the first episode won me over with its charm and sheer enthusiasm. If it can maintain this level of energy for the whole season, it might become a dark horse candidate... nah, probably not, this season is loaded. But I'll be looking forward to this anime every week.
On the other hand, the first episode of World Is Dancing was a letdown. The story just didn't click for me. The show looks nice, except for what I assume is the pivotal moment, when everything went abstract for some reason. Maybe next episode will be better, since it feels like the story still hasn't started yet. As for Cat and Dragon and Oblivious Saint, I'm not quite sure where they're going yet, so I'll wait for another episode of each. EDIT Villager Level 999 feels like one of those mediocre fantasies that I might keep or drop, depending on what else I'm watching. Maybe it'll do something interesting with its world-building, but it might not happen soon enough for me to find out. I completely forget that I even watched the first episode of Overshadowed to Overpowered, which probably says enough.
