At about the 19 minute mark of episode 12 (the one where the tachikama runs away) there appears to be a poster for a Lupin movie on the wall behind the Major when she is talking to the director. I was hoping somebody with Japanese skills could take a look and either confirm or deny this:

The writing from that angle appears to say "furansu no onna" (woman of France) though since there is another kanji following the character for woman that I can't make out fully, the reading of 'onna' could be different if it's being used in combination. If there is a straight on view that shows the kanji that is cut off at the bottom, I might be able to figure out what the full title on the poster is.

The character right beneath 女 is 探, most likely the first character of 探偵 (tantei, "detective"). It's highly probable, although not 100% certain, that the full title would be フランスの女探偵 (furansu no jotantei), literally "a female detective of France," or more fluent, "a French female detective."

Hmmm, so basically no. I know that the woman in Stolen Lupin is French, and that in Angel Tactics, Zenigata teams up with a female detective, but both of these came out post GITS. Darn it, I was excited too
 There was a good shot of the bottom of the poster, so I'll post that just to finish the phrase. Does anyone else think that looks like him though?

I'm sure it was meant to be a Lupin homage, even if the poster doesn't specifically mention him. Good catch; I never noticed that before.
