On May 17 I took advantage of Deep Discounts "Buy one get one Free" sale and purchased several Titles, both Anime and Non Anime. Most of the items have been delivered EXCEPT for my order for Ghost in the Shell S.A.C.(Season 1) which is still listed as "Backordered". I have never had this problem with them before, usually when I place an order with them I get it within five days. Does anybody know what's going on?

Normally, when something is "backordered" that means it's not in stock.
What I want to know is why my package, which mailed out on Thursday, is still not in my hands considering their factory is 10 miles from my frickin house.

That would be an issue with the postal service I would imagine and not them. But as slick said if the item is backordered of course you won't have it yet. It's not in stock. So they do what every other store does, mail you what is in stock and then mail out the backordered item whenever they get more. Of course, that can take a while in some cases (like popular items such as this one).

Yes it can. Several of my items that have been backordered through DD have taken as long as three months before they shipped.
Just an FYI. If you want it quick but DD says it's not in stock. Expect to wait a long time.

It's not like the mailman can pick it up and just take it right to your house. It has to go several miles away, to the sorting station, to be sorted into your town's mail, then sent to your local Post Office, then delivered to you. Kind of a pain, but how it works, unless you can get in contact with someone along the way and arrange an in-person pickup (which isn't terribly likely.)

Same here, I ordered the two seasons with the buy one get one deal. I have recieved season 2, but season one is still on order, I am not really worried about it, once they are back in stock they should send out an e-mail.
I am also waiting on a backorder from TSRI for the final arc of the Kenshin manga from the Viz sale. For the amount of money saved from these deals, I don't really mind waiting a bit for the stuff.

THREE MONTHS! I'll have to make sure an item is "In Stock" before I order it after September if it is (Like these Titles I Ordered) something I intend to give somebody for CHRISTmas!

Yeah, I basically never order something if it isn't listed as in stock unless I have no other choice. Chances are with a little searching I can find somebody that has it in stock, so settling for an order that will be fulfilled god knows when just isn't going to work for me. I'm usually willing to pay a little more too in order to get it from somebody who has it in stock rather than a cheaper store that doesn't.

It's Abouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut Time!
Since these are going to be used to celebrate a Certain Birthday I'll follow the example set by that person and Forgive them. Case Closed!

Shoot 3 months is nothing lol. At this one hobbyshop I order garage kits from online they wait til they get 10 orders for a figure before they fire and cast it. The problem is their selection is mammoth. I still have 3 garage kits from my first order there that have yet to get 10 requests. That order is 2 1/2 years old now pushing 3 years this fall. So 3 months is a cakewalk lol.

I've done backorders with Deepdiscount before. Problem with that is they sometimes take a LONG time to restock their anime, so I'm not going to do that again. I recently convinced a guy to buy Elfen Lied, so he ordered it on deepdiscount while it was out of stock.
3 weeks later..... Still doesn't have it.

OH YEAH! Well on this one item I had to wait...
Hold on a minute. I've never had to wait three years for something. That's crazy!
I suppose I should add something to what I said before. I buy a lot of stuff, and while three items did take upwards of three months from DD, that isn't always the case. Yes, even with backorders. However I remember at least three items taking that long. I believe one of them took four months. In fact one of the items that took so long was the first season box of GitS: SAC when it first came out.
So really I was just warning the thread that it does happen rather than saying it happens everytime. Y'all been warned.

I think it's also worth saying that DD may cancel items you ordered if they're out of stock. I can't remember the exact titles they canceled but on the last order I made they did cancel three or four items without notifying me. Regarding the backorder problem, yeah, I waited 3-4 months for Blame! vol. 2 and the Planetes complete collection. DD's usually slower than average on everything.

This "sorting center" which you speak of is down the street from my house. There's no valid reason why it's taking this long. Even my rightstuf packages take a week or longer (a month in one case!). I guess Illinois must have a pretty shitty postal service. But then again Deep Discount didn't even bother to give me a tracking number to check what's up.

Well, I got the first part of my order from DD's BOGOF sale (it was SAC 2nd GIG) a few days ago, and today I got an email confirmation from DD saying that they shipped out SAC today, so hopefully everyone else's will be getting shipped out soon as well.
