I'll admit they are fluid, but so far I've found the fight scenes quite detracting. I haven't been as captivated with Rahxephon's storyline and characters as much as I was with Eva's. I can't quite put my finger on why- perhaps it's the "singing" theme. |

Asukas spoiler[last stand] in End of evangelion is the fight scene that has stuck in my mind since watching it. It's just so unique and breathtaking. If having Bach being played in perfect time with the animation in the background wasnt enough you also have to contend with the whole tragedy of the situation in the first place with spoiler[Shinji's failure to reach his EVA and Asuka's final moments] making that fight scene one of the best i've ever seen in anime. I thought a similar mention should go to Rei's spoiler[final fight where she pummels an angel at point blank range with a sniper rifle before blowing up her EVA to protect shinji], as it was this scene that i first decided to ( forgive me for the term), ''get into'' anime. Ghost in the shell also gets my vote; where thespoiler[ Tachikomas make thier last bid to protect batou] at the end of GITS.
Having decided all this a while back i recently watched the Rebuild of evangelion and was similarly blown away by the redone operation Yashima fight at the end where spoiler[Rei jumps in at the last minute allowing Shinji to make that important shot]. It just rocks with angel of doom playing in the back ground with the spoiler[angel's beam slowly melting away Rei's shield. ] |

In episode 9 I had to catch my breath after the spoiler[assault on an angel syncronised to music]. "That's how you direct a fight scene", I remember thinking to myself. They could have used more classical music during the series' action scenes instead of a theme which sounded as if it was lifted from a Bond film, but the last two "proper" episodes' scores compensated. |

Well it just goes to show that music plays just as an important part in anime as the animation does in making a good fight scene which is why i love the new evangelion movie so much with the operation yashima scene. I think it was in Sky girls towards the end when they are spoiler[about to attack the nest of WORM] where i first witnessed this technique being used and again in sailor moon and shakugan no shana, but where a series's opening song is played in sequence to a fight scene, this can make for entertaining and fluid fight as well. Im sure there are countless examples to this but i think it works. Im fairly new to anime ( a couple of years ), so im probably stating the obvious for most of you but theres my 2 pence.

In terms of fluidity in fight scenes, I would go with the scenes present in Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen. Realism was this anime title's biggest emphasis as realistic details were put into character designs, the environments of feudal Japan, and the choreography of fight scenes. The brutal clash of swords and the bloody outcomes of each fight were so realistically portrayed that I was dropping my mouth in delight over each fight scene that took place.

I would have to suggest Hunter X Hunter. The fighting is pretty awesome, even though the anime quality isn't topnotch as the anime is old.
The fighting just keeps getting better and better throughout the series. I hope that the anime is continued 
Another one that hasn't been suggested many times is Claymore. I was pretty impressed with the fighting, although the last two filler episodes were sort of unrealistic, the fighting was still really good. Alot of people suggested Samurai Champloo. However, I have watched it but i didn't really find it interesting, not the storyline, not the fighting, not the characters nothing 
Everyone else i know says its awesome... Could it be an age thing? (im 16) |

What you're referring to is when they use an insert song during a battle, the Macross franchise has made an artform of that in the last 25 years and the latest in Frontier is no exception. Don't Be Late in episode 1 My Boyfriend is a pilot in episode 4 Don't Be Late in episode 7 Infinity in episode 7 Heck I consider "Ai Oboete Imasu ka" from Macross Do You Remember Love to be the best usage of an insert song in anime. |

How about Utawarerumono? I don't think I've seen it mentioned yet. Not only are they fluid but most of the main cast carries different weapons (swords, a metal fan, bow and arrows, spears, heck even a massive club) so the combat is extremely varried depending on who they fight. I remember really enjoying the fights in that show quite a bit.

I remember that one. Besides an episode or two of mediocre action animation, Utawarerumono had some excellent looking fight scenes. The choreography put into some of them was really impressive.

DBZ had some good fights, but they were generally drawn out with tons of filler.
If were going for fluidity, I'd say most of the fight scenes in Cowboy Bebop. They were incredibly stylish and cool, and fluidity at times was a huge part of this. Evangelion also had some amazing fight scenes, spoiler[including when Shinji and Asuka had to do a perfectly synchronized fight timed to music to defeat an Angel and the battle between Asuka and the EVA series in The End of Evangelion. ] Both were great to watch and perfectly done. |

Fluid fight scenes, eh? Well, all my bases are belong to Afro Samurai. The combination of music, heavy ink usage (seriously, I thought I was seeing another Exxon Valdez!) and visuals, was nothing short of outstanding! The first scene with Afro's father and Justice was completely incredible.
The cat fight between Princess Mononoke and Lady Eboshi was really well executed. A viciouse princess vs. a cool headed weapons master just really flowed like glue you know? |

samurai champloo fights are incredible it goes with the mood of the music and i love it, but the best fight I've ever seen in a anime serie is serei no moribito the visuals are amazing with the fight and the animation is very solid
