This was mentioned last night in the chat room, but has anyone noticed how the forums have been less active since the addition of "chat?"
Not that I'm saying the forums are uninteresting now, but I haven't seen as many new topics the last few days. Just wondering... .

Wow, there's a chat! Thanks for the heads-up, I didn't notice until now.
Anyway, I post here almost regularly now so I'll try to keep the forums alive.

It's quite possible, but I prefer the less involved nature of forum communication. To clarify, with a chat room, stuff is happening instantly; you have to be there at that moment to really have an active discussion. With the forums, one can make posts to topics of their choice, go do something else for a while (could be hours, days, (months?)), come back and make replies, and so on. Maybe I'm just lazy though...

The chat room is sexy. Stuff does happen instantanously, and that's gotta contribute to something. You get to know people better, topics are disscussed much faster, and you get to know some people better (or how much of a jerk some people are =P). That doesn't mean the at the fourms are obsolete though. The forums still rock. There are times where the chatroom is completely dead, and at least with the forums, you can post something and know someone will hear it.
The forums are good for long term discussion on a specific topic, where the chat room is good for anything random and short term discussion. They both have a essential purpose. =P

*grin* Hope you're not talking about me...
Eh, I don't think the forums have died off too much. I'd rather have a few good new topics than a lot of really lame topics. Besides, this lull will give everyone the chance to refresh their brains and think of some good discussions again.

Well there are some forums that I wish would die. Animenation for example. The majority of the posters there I think represent the anime fan stereotype perfectly, and the mods run the place like Poland circa 1940.

I got banned by the forum starter after he came into one of my threads dissing hip hop music, and I of course blasted back at him, although not really in flames. Than he sent me a message that pretty much said this: "Do you know who I am? I started this forum, kid, it belongs to me. Learn where to show respect. Well, I don't like you, so Good Bye."

Oh God, Animenation. Where everyone wants to screw little girls and you can smell the cheetos through your computer screen.

The chat is awesome, you get to RP as One Piece people! (remembers being Zoro and killing Naruto)

Haven't used the chat yet. I think I will stick to the forum. The forum aren't dying its just a lull like Sakechan said. Its nice that when a new list thread isn't popping up every second.

Hardcore geeks scare me. That sucks how you got banned. I hate how people think their god because they have some scrap of power on the internet.

haha, i don't like chatrooms. i like forums because you leave a message there and you can check it later after a couple hours... much better to get discussions going on.
plus if you argue, you have time to formulate arguments and get proof. never had an argument with someone on AIM with frantic linking of hyperlinks =P
