Yep, we have yet another Journey to the West adaptation coming our way thanks to Darkhorse, except this one looks a bit interesting. The artist mostly does artbooks from what I've seen, and his art is very good. Its definitally got a weird/disturbing vibe to it, and a good deal of the time his subjects are women with strange, mechanical armor on them (think Giger with less surrealism and more sex appeal). He did the character designs for Blood:The Last Vampire as well. After seeing a couple of pictures of his rendition of JttW, I can say it's pretty over the top like his illustrations. Goku is now a dangerous looking monster. His skill as an artist is exellent, so I think it should be interesting to see what his writing is like.

I noticed this just last night in the latest Previews magazine. This looks rather interesting. Dark Horse doesn't release a lot of manga, but they always manage to find some of most interesting properties to bring to North America. And their production values are top notch. Their books are a little more expensive, but I don't mind forking over some extra cash when the books look so good.

Only 136 page with color? That's kind of flimsy but I guess the color makes up for this.

Considering how good this guys art is I don't see it as flimsy at all. I'm sure that some people will want it to be larger, but I would guess that the pages are glossy (like GitS) because of the cover. I hope the guy can tell a good story to match his amazing art. But I paid more for Junko Mizuno's books, so I'll definitally pick this one up as well.
