I heard that Enoki Films USA held the rights of Captain Tsubasa in the USA and had a whole page describing the anime under the name Flash Kicker. Did they ever release it?

Our site lists them as having the rights to the "Road to 2002" series, and I can find references elsewhere to Enoki films having the license, but as near as I can tell they've never done anything with it; even the feature page they had for the series is now defunct. The most likely scenario is that they got the license but decided it wasn't worth the expense and effort to try to bring it into the U.S. (since sports-based series are notoriously poor performers on this side of the Pacific) so it's just languishing in anime Purgatory.
