It includes details about Velveteen and Mandala and more info on Lychee Light Club, which will apparently be shinkwrapped. Also, don't go expecting Vertical to pick up titles that have been extensively scanlated.... apparently they opted for V&M since it was one of the creator's titles that hadn't been pirated. Also from Michael Gombos, a point that speaks to why digital manga movement has been so slow- "While Japanese publishers’ response to digital distribution may be evolving, they continue to be skeptical. Michael Gombos, director of Asian licensing at Dark Horse, said that their partners in Japan remain resistant to digital distribution. “Scanlation has soured a lot of publishers to the idea,” he said." Nice to hear that NetComics was in attendance- they're a small, personable operation, and I've been meaning to check out more of their books. I heard they operated a massive Korean Manwha library at the Con too. It also sounds like Yen Plus is doing well, as it's reception is leading Yen's japanese partners to warm up to it. |
