Well, some people know my opinions from a thread I started awhile ago. Sure there's companies like Sentai grabbing licences for so many anime I would've been glad to purchase if they were dubbed. Since they have the rights to (a few examples) Hell Girl 2+3, Kampfer, Koihime Musou, Gin Tama, etc. It's likely I'll never see them in english. But you know what? Fine, I can deal with that for some reason. This thread is mostly targeted towards Media Blasters. IkkiTousen and Queen's Blade release dates (volumes and box sets) have been delayed several times. I mean, seriously, how many times was Queen's Blade volume 2 kicked back by now, 3-4 times (so far)? Oh and if you bought Kanokon vol. 1, prepare to be disappointed. You're not getting anymore, it seems it has been dropped completely. I do realize they're struggling, but they did grab rights to these titles in the first place. All I know is, me being an obvious ecchi fan, they'd better finish Queen's Blade. I'll wait. Just finish it though.

Actually, doesn't MB have licences for both QB seasons? Just when I thought Sentai was annoying, subbing everything (if you're going to sub an anime like Hell Girl, could you at least leave out the terrifying typos)? If your clothes are getting out of style as you're waiting for Media Blasters, do tell me about it.

Kanokon hasn't been dropped. A boxed set is coming out in March. Still, it's screwing over the people (like me) who bought volume 1, since it's now worthless. I can't say I'm not a bit disappointed about being forced to repurchase something, just to complete the series.

I haven't been paying attention to Queen's Blade, but Media Blaster's twitter feed says QB vol. 2 will ship in a few weeks, with vol. 3 coming before the end of the year.

Don't get me started on Media Bastards. Those incompetent dorks couldn't release a fart. Apparently March 31(!) is the next deadline they plan to miss for the complete collections of Dragon Destiny and Queen's Blade. Nothing would make me happier than to see them go out of business so that a real company can rescue their titles.

@murph

I appreciate that Kanokon info. That's actually great news (for me at least). Looks like I was wrong about Kanokon. Thanks. On another note, isn't Queen's Blade 2's release date Dec. 14?

I'm sorry for your situation. Here's one optional tip. Sell Kanokon vol 1 on Amazon, I've sold everything I've ever listed on Amazon. Just be sure to beat the current low price by a few dollars. Right now the lowest is $12.72 New. Even though yours is used, you'd be able to sell it within a week so long as you list it @ something like $8.49. Amazon takes a bit, but you'll get a bit of shipping profit. Hey, better than nothing right?

I don't think a lot of people know this but the reason MB had so many delays is because for a long while, they were constantly changing distribution warehouses. Now that they have settled in a place, the delays should be much less frequent.

I don't see nothing wrong in anime myself and so what if you like the perveted stuff, you can't help it can you?

But it's still a market which everyone out of the loop looks down their noses at all the time.

If a company if willing to at least try and mrket as much anime as they can then I say go for it. So what if they don't manage to get eveything on the shelves, at least they gave it a go.

According to DVDaf, both Queens Blade Volumes are going to be released on December 28th.

I agree that Media Blasters has fallen quite a ways from a couple of years ago. Back then it seemed like they were everywhere. Sort of a 3rd "Big" company behind FUNImation & ADV. Of course since ADV is now Sentai, and FUNImation is just about the only "Big" game in town anymore...somebody had to drop the ball...

Yeah, I've heard that excuse bandied about, but I don't buy it. As Jason Sevakis mentioned on the last ANNCast, MB has had cash flow problems for a long time - probably on account of SUCKING so damn much. You can't tell me a title goes from an announced August release date to October to March 31 of the following year simply due to warehouse problems.

No, I think the singles of QB and DD are probably still selling reasonably well and MB wants to milk that for all it's worth before releasing the cheaper complete collections.

I really don't think so.

Like I didn't even realize they existed for a while.

As far as your problems go, lkp, I couldn't care less about Queen's Blade or Kanokon considering I hate ecchi with a passion. Now, as far as their animes go, they need to start coming out with popular titles. What does MB have? Genshiken, Dokuru-chan..........Genshiken......I give up. At least ADV--I mean Sentai, has a good heart to put out titles with a dub (which I like). Canaan? Blue Drop? Clannad? All good animes and GREAT dubs. Sentai is on a roll, where I can only say that Media Blasters is on life support.

I understand delays are frustrating, but people have to realize that it's not like these companies want to delay the releases. They wouldn't postpone a chance to make a profit if it wasn't for a good reason. Has anyone stopped to think that maybe they are delayed because they don't have the money to give it a proper release yet? Or that they have had technical issues and don't want to release a faulty product? Or it could even have to do with contracts made in the licensing process. I think that before we start damning these companies we should try to consider they're position.

One delay is "annoying"
Two delays is "frustrating"
3 delays is "angering"

They're on delay number 4 or 5 now. Instead of just constantly bumping it back a month they should just be honest and say "We don't know when it will be ready, for X reason, and it will release when it's ready". Then we wouldn't have our hopes dashed each time and could understand what the hold up is. In Media Blasters case they did do that, and we had to wait until the end of October to find out the reason. They switched distributors.

Media Blasters has me extremely annoyed with their treatment of Ikki Tousen: Dragon Destiny too. As for releasing sub only, yeah, any company that's cheap like that and releases substandard monolingual copies (Sentai, sometimes Bandai) annoys me quite a bit and effects my purchasing from them. I'd have to have seen and really liked the title to buy it even with handicap.

Hmmm... X3 I'm gonna sound like a broken record here, but I have to say it: Their Moribito releases almost make up for their other screwups.

Out of the all the crap I've been buying for the last...hrm, two years? I'd say Moribito has received the best treatment, outside and in.

Well, save for that UGLY-ASS DVD menu which screams at the top of lungs "JPEG ARTIFAAAACTS!"

Honestly though, I think Hell Girl 2 & 3 deserved a dub, and all that Sentai gave them was a sub (people have noticed typos in both season releases if I remember correctly). Hell Girl is just an example though. Yeah, they dubbed the stuff you mentioned, like Canaan, but like I said, they're still releasing way too many subs in my opinion. Maybe it's laziness. Maybe they can't afford a good VA cast, but I just have to doubt that. Maybe neither. What do you guys think?

Well, remember they're still recovering from the demise of ADV so I still don't blame them for not releasing dubs. Hell, I am GLAD that Sentai decided to dub animes. Remember, I am a dub fan first and a decider second, but as far as Sentai goes, I'll give them some time. MEDIA BLASTERS on the other hand, either they never had money to begin with or they ****ing suck with financial handlings. Like I said, ONLY Genshiken and Dokuru-chan? Unless someone gives me another title that is popular and by MB, those are the only titles I can think of.

O_O Oh, i'm ranting aren't I?
