Don't read it! It's EVIL!

Laughing Seirously, it's like crack. I rampantly read through then entire series, then looked back on it all and realized that it sucked. It really does. Long, boring, predictable, and with unattractive art.

I like the manga Mars Smile

The only part I thought was ridiculously boring was that entire volume dedicated to Rei's 'Big Race' -_-zzzzz Other that that it can be a little predictable but overall I found it very engaging and fun to read. I liked the characters and the artwork is beautiful.

Milliardo_Dragon, did you want to discuss something in particular about this series? Are you looking for recommendations? Did you like it? Wink

Personally, as a fan of Moto GP and World Superbike racing (Ducati/Aprillia fan for life, Japanese bike makers can bite it! ) I thought that the motorcycle racing sequences were quite good.

And having been a racer with significant others looking on, I found Kira's emotions to ring true as well.

The Mars manga is one I enjoyed quite a bit. The character designs were detailed and distinctive, as well as attractive and the writing was quality through and through. If I have any complaints, it has to be that the Masao arc lasted far too long.

I like the Mars manga. I've been reading it off and on for the last year or so, when I suggested that my school library get it (which they did) and I've been fairly impressed with it. The Art is beautiful, and as Craeyst Raygal said, if you like your superbikes you're going to like the motorcycle sequences. The main male character does own a Ducati, so that’s a plus in my book.
Over all, Mars is a worth a look. It's not what I'd call "Best. Manga. Ever." or anything, but it does grab one's attention. Currently, I'm actually in the middle or reading Vol. 7 which is in the Masao arc.

It's actually quite the opposite. You want to talk crack manga on crack that's long, boring, predictable, with very unattractive art look at any of Ken Akamatsu's stuff. Shocked

I agree, it is a detailed and distinctive series. I really liked how the story developed as well. Definatley a nice break from normal mangas. Anime smallmouth

Laughing Well, can't argue with that, I hate his work. But none-the-less, I'm still not fond of Mars, and the artwork is very plan, not very detailed and not enough tone-work...and everyone's nose looks weird to me for some reason. Anime smile;

well, isn't that the one who made love hina? i like love hina the anime... but it's really simple though. anyways, i like mars a lot, the story is really weird at first but it's actually good. it's something new to me... it's not just the typical love story we see on manga... Smile i like the live action a lot as well!

I can't say I agree. When I saw Ken Akamatsu's art for Love Hina, I thought it was really nice. But then again, I didn't look inside the GN.

I have to agree on that one. the art work was pretty good but i LOVED the story. But anyway on the topic.... MARS is a good manga. But the artwork was like anyone elses. Alot of tears everywhere. Dudes lookin like chicks. Its all the same (atleast in LH you can tell who was a guy! And I'm not going to comment on any of the K.A. haters because i dont want to get kicked off again Smile )

Ugh...yes, I checked out volumes 1-7 out of my local library, but stopped reading when the Masao character appeared. As a really strong gay and lesbian supporter, I was totally angered that the only gay character that author introduced into her story was the "bad guy." It's sending a really bad message into children about homosexuality, so I decided to stop reading it. -_-"

As I recall, Masao had a few issues to work out, but spoiler[ the real 'bad guy' was Kira's father.]

Not really, i mean he was bad for spoiler[raping Kira while she was in middle school, then leaving her mother and her at a young age. but the real bad guy is Masao. I mean whats worst than taking the love of your life away that has been with you through thick and thin Anime cry and has taken all your pain away. And you worked as to understand him and prove your love. All this just because the Masoa guy is gay and jelouse of Kira and wants him to turn phyco likie himslelf.]

Well, if you'd read on, you would have found out that Masao's sexual preference has really nothing to do with his behavior and that the book has a very strong positive gay character in the cross-dressing Violet that appears in volume 10.
