So I'm reading Genshiken and I thought Genshiken would make a great live action series. they wouldn't have to use cheesy effect because Genshiken really isn't a series with many fantasy elements. We all know japanese production are more limited in what they can used (i.e. Sailor Moon). But just like GTO and Gokusen live action, they wouldn't have to set up many fantasy location for Genshiken, probably just used Cons and College Club House.

Genshiken would make for a great comedy drama series about Otaku and how they internact with each other as well as "outsiders". Many U.S. fans would like to get a glimpse of Japanese otaku at work in their natural habitat as well as real life japanese conventions and club. Know more about Japaense culture and see japanese custom in real life.

Anyways, what manga series would you like to see turn into a live action and how would it work? (Do not just listed, please explain how you also).

Well, i don't know about live action series, but i'd love to see a live-action Cyborg 009 movie!

A live-action Lupin III movie would kick ass too...

I'd like to see a Spirit of the Sun series, though the budget could be a problem. Beleivers would also make a really sweet movie, especially if they could get a good director to emulate Yamamoto's storytelling style.

I would love to see a real life Wangan Midnight film. But this time, stick to the storyline, hire Japanese Staff, and for god sakes, import some of our crappy 280z than wreck a buncha rare treasures on your side of the ocean.

Monster would make a great live action series. They're turning it into a movie, fortunately...

I always thought 20th century boys would be perfect as a live action tv series. Something in the same vein as Lost(just as many unanswered questions and flashbacks lol).

I totally agree! Recently I started reading 20th Century Boys and I'm totally obsessed. Before seeing a live action of it I would love to see an anime version of it but only when it's completely finished. (does anyone know how many chapters urasawa is going to make 20th century boys?) I would also like to see Berserk as a live action series.

Berserk would not work out well due to all the fantasy elements. Even if they tried, it would turn out pretty crappy, just look at Devil Man and Sailor Moon. With the low production cost of making a japanese live action series, you will likely people in monster costume (i.e. power rangers) and giant plaster sword. Are there horses in Japan? I never seen anybody ride a horse in Japan before. Berserk is a great manga but sometimes it's only good in 2D. Wink

So far, nobody bother reading my original post and listed a bunch of manga series they like to see. I really want to know what kind of detail they can do with the series. For example, berserk, but how really it work out, who would play etc and how will it go down? I guess it depend if you seen a lot of japanaese live action series or movie.

There's a little invention called the computer out there that would make it so there were no monster costumes. That all depends on a fictional budget but let's just say it's backed by a hefty sum of money.

At the rate he's going, who knows. Just when I thought the story was wrapping up, it pulled a huge twist and extended into a new phase (which was a brilliant move in my opinion). Then, as the second part of the manga approached its climax, he pulled another mind-skrew and started another totally diffrent phase of the story (not so sure about this one, but still a great read). He seems to be using 20th Century Boys to have fun and try out ideas, so it could go on for quite a while.
