I was wondering if anyone can answer me this question. Is there somthing special about Volume 6 of Mushi-shi. Was it recalled? Is it out of print?
I've been searching and searching and I simply cannot find Volume 6 at a normal price. 1-5, 7, and the 8-10 Omnibus are all readily available on just about every site I go on. But Volume 6...I can only find it used for insane prices like $80-$120. I've checked Rightstuf, Amazon, Ebay, Barnes and Noble, Borders, Books-a-Million, Buy.com, and many other Book or Anime related retailers. Volume 6 is no where to be found. So yeah...Does anyone know why this is? |

Probably just had a low print run. Later volumes in series tend to, as demand shrinks down to the dedicated fans. This is a very common thing nowadays- manga fandom has shrunk down a bit, so less popular titles aren't getting reprinted. I'm glad Mushishi was finished though. Given the series is very episodic, and the last 3 vols come in one big chunk, I'd suggest getting the rest, as you should be okay.

Fun fact: Del Rey had plenty of copies left, but these ended up in the Netherlands and Belgium and were sold at Boekenfestijn for €1,95 just like all their other titles.
Fun fact 2: The whole 'getting rid of leftover stock' happened months before the Kodansha thing was announced. The trick is to find a Dutch/Belgian seller who is not aware of its value outside of the Benelux. Stores you may want to check: www.senorhernandez.com www.eppo.nl www.stripwinkelblunder.nl It will set you back €20-30, but that's still cheaper than $80, I guess... You could also keep an eye on www.marktplaats.nl It's a Dutch site with Dutch sellers, but people who sell English manga generally speak English and may be willing to sell to someone outside of the Netherlands. |
