It sounds like it's a pretty bad misspelling or mistransliteration of it. I wouldn't doubt that was exactly what they were going for.

Forgive me for my obvious ignorance in this situation, but I've never heard the term switchaxe used like that. What did you mean exactly?

The switchaxe is a switchaxe, one of the weapons introduced in Tri where it's a giant axe that transforms into some sorta exploding longsword.
S&S is short for Sword and Shield, the basic nub weapon where you hold a tiny shield and a tiny blade.
MH4 will introduce the Charge Axe, which is an axe similar to the Switchaxe that transforms into Sword and Shield instead of a Longsword. It's more than just that of course, but that's the most noticeable feature of the weapon.
