It's kind of funny, American companies tend to change anime openings to make them more suitable for the kids, but now they have an american show opening with a J-Pop feel to it. I guess I just don't understand the workings of these companies enough |

I'm guessing they want to get in on the popularity of anime with the kids and still have the DC characters. if you look at the characters they look like an "amerime". |

a show based on dc comics characters drawn in anime style complete with j pop music, is anyone else a little bothered by this? i mean these comics inspired even some anime writers i'm sure. i know you could say this is a good thing as this means anime has taken over the US, but now with american companies moving to this style, all originality's being thrown thrown out the window. |

I would think that's blatantly obvious. Because the opening sequences are in Japanese! Very few broadcasters will air the opening with the Japanese songs because American kids don't know Japanese. Thus, they have to make or clip together a new opening sequence with a new song in English. Or, as in Cartoon Network's case, they'll leave it completely untouched and leave the subtitles on as the anime distributor did. Or, like Funimation did with DragonBall and Yu-Yu Hakusho, they'll leave the opening sequence as is and re-record an English-translated version of the Japanese opening song.
Oh, and I suppose you didn't notice that Jackie Chan Adventures has some anime influences in character design. Tell me you don't see anime in Jade's character. Anyway, I know that the main character designer behind Teen Titans is Glen Murakami, one of Bruce Timm's (the guy behind Batman: TAS, and Justice League) protegés. Murakami did much of the animation direction behind Superman and Batman Beyond and was responsible for the later streamlined designs for Batman: TAS. I suppose I could say your argument is empty when it's a Japanese-American guy that's "copying" the anime style. I prefer to think of it as a melding of two distinct art styles into one. I think it's great and shows that animation is progressing in new directions in America. Sure, it's a bit of mimicry, but it's good mimicry. Back in the old days, when you animated realistic human characters, the animation was poor and sloppy because you had to deal with so much detail. Nowadays, with fresher character designs, you can get away with realistic animation, but with a teeny bit less detail, but just enough to make it look cool. Oh, and remember, the big eyes that are synonymous with anime character designs these days were borrowed from Disney and Fleischer way back when. It's arguable to say that we inadvertantly started the anime style ourselves by influencing Tezuka. |

I think its cool that they are having a J-Pop song opening up the show. Going slightly off topic I'm going to say I would rather see a Young Justice show rather then Teen Titans.
