I found an old VHS tape of this series at the library a while ago, and it's a lot of fun. It's about these crazy girls in some kind of Extreme Ultimate Beauty contest, and they run around and scream and do really funny stunts. Since it was a VHS tape I didn't have a choice in watching it dubbed or subbed, but I'll tell you the dub is excellent, especially for an older show. It's kind of like Love Hina, only with no boys. Defiantly recommended if you want to sit back, relaxing, and kill a couple of brain cells.

Haha
, yeah kinda.
Battle Athletes was pretty much a buncha girls running around in an extreme-all-around-athletic-training to be in this universal sports....thing.
It was pretty cool, lots of interesting characters, playing lots of different sports. You've got your inter-character drama and relations, you've got your friendship, you've even got some angst here and there. Other than I-chan’s little brother, there are like, no guys whatsoever. Anyway, it's just really cute. Nothing too hard to think about, nothing too depressing, just a really sweet story with a bunch of really nice girls wearing cute little outfits doing extreme sports. Maybe you shouldn’t take my word for it, as I’m obsessively addicted to sports anime/manga, but I really enjoyed it. Yeah, a little slow and not much happened. No real eye candy for girls (but that didn't make it any less fun. I'm still not sure what audience it was geared for though ) but it was still really cute, and you wanted the girls to kick butt in the end. It had good ending too, if that matters ^^ It kinda reminded me of Stellvia, no idea why. Last edited by ShikamaChU on Tue Aug 22, 2006 8:52 am; edited 1 time in total |

It was one of the first shows I watched outside of what was airing later on midnight run a few years ago. I checked out the series and immediately bought the dvds and so began my interest in anime.
I loved that show. It was hilarious yet exciting to watch at time because of the athletics. I'm not saying it's a masterpiece or anything, but I really really liked it. Keep in mind I watched it several years ago before I had watched any other shows of the same genre, so others might not think so highly of it. |

Is it out on dvd? I tried looking on Amazon and no luck. Maybe I was spelling it wrong, knowing me it's likely. Would netflix have it?

So is battle Athletes Victory a sequel/second season or is it original on its own?

Same setting and characters, different story, I'd suggest it over the OVA, but both are good And we need a Special Edition of Battle Athletes, where's the love Geneon? |

I wish they would so we could finally get the real ending credits for the last episode. I've never been able to find it other than a few screenshots online.

If Geneon is at Nekocon with a booth in the dealer's room you could always give the suggestion to one of them Opal Jaguar. Sometimes they do actually listen......sometimes
