Similarly, various Star Wars and Star Trek fan projects have been given the nod by their respective copyright holders.

Well, the condition not to profit from it doesn't seem like much of a problem since these things aren't generally made to make money in the first place.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out since people have been asking for remakes of the first two Metal Gear games for many years now.
