You see a show, you know it's bad, you know the characters are lame and the story is lazily written. What would it take to get you to enjoy it?
Personally, you need constant fighting to get my attention. Bright colors, lots of explosions. I'm not much of a gore fan, I prefer just seeing gunfire and explosions. I would also require yuri, and demand it be very sexualized. You just can't have yuri without heavy amounts of fanservice. And another important thing is that the characters, even if they're badly written, must have some level of energy or life to them. Maybe a little cartoonish perhaps, but I'd take obnoxious over boring. A show doesn't need to be good to be enjoyable. Ikki Tousen was a mess, the story, the characters, it was trash... but it wasn't boring at least |

Is it hentai or child porn? No? Fair game, I'll watch it.

A lot of people can't stand hentai... personally, my least favorite anime of all time was "Piano: Melody of a Young Girls Heart", because it was the least entertaining anime I've seen. It was a struggle to watch it. |

If I know that it is bad then nothing could get me to watch it.
There is already more anime in existence than I will ever be able to watch, with more being made every day. I am not going to waste time watching something that I know is bad when I could be using that time to watch something that I know is good, or at least something that I think that I will probably like. If it turns out that I am wrong and I do not like it then I stop watching as soon as I realize that. Last edited by Touma on Wed Jun 03, 2015 4:07 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Nothing. I don't want to waste my time watching something I know I don't like. I'll give anything a chance, particularly if people whose tastes I generally agree with recommend it, but if I don't like something, I'm not going to keep watching just for the sake of it.
I do agree with your sentiment about Ikki Tousen though. "Quality" doesn't always equal automatically enjoyable. |

You can enjoy something without thinking it's good |

I just need one or two characters that I like so I'll want to see what happens to them. I finished Dragonaut The Resonance because of two characters I liked... One of which was killed off half way through
In general I try to stick with a show to the end, even if it is bad. I don't believe one can truely make a judgement call on a show's quality unless you see the whole thing. |

A couple hundred bucks would do it.

You supply plenty of alcohol, the skys the limit. I still remember winning a drunken bet with the hentai Bondage Game as I challenged one guy to watch the whole thing. Poor bastard.

No I cannot, because if I am enjoying something that makes it good. Thinking that it is good is what allows me to enjoy it. We have already had the Quality and Entertainment debate, if that is how you are thinking. |

Yea... that was what I was thinking. And it's pretty much how I think. Which is why Yuru Yuri is a better show than Maria-sama |

Nothing in the world would make me "enjoy" a s***ty show, but I'd complete it instead of just dropping it if you paid me a hefty sum of money, like maybe a grand.

Even if it was full of violence, sex, and other entertaining things |

You're getting into the area where "shitty" is relative: plenty of shows and movies are plotwise, but still plenty fun; others aren't at all fun, but have highly developed plots. Even then, whether that movie qualifies as fun or the plot qualifies as good is up to the viewer.
