I like the art style and premise of this show; hope it holds up to expectations.

So this is the otaku pandering series this season (last season's was UOT). I just hope it's not terrible.

Looks promising. I wonder if it'll be made available in other streaming services.

By "otaku pandering" I mean the plot is going to go something like this: an otaku shunned by the world because of his obsessions is thrust into a "save the world" scenario where he uses his meticulous knowledge of something specific to come out on top. For UOT, he used his technical prowess to become the "ultimate" teacher.

Wouldn't Overlord fit that description? Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri's plot is about a group of soldiers, not exactly the average otaku profession.

The description says the protagonist is an otaku, so I expect he's going to be either the typical anime otaku or a military otaku (being obsessed with guns and such).

Both of you are in the wrong...he maybe an otaku but he is also a commander of entire squad....just watch the first episodes...cause a lot of u are speculating like this is going to be typical....trust me it is not.

Perhaps he is a capable Squad Leader, to add the New members (seen on the Picture) into his Squad and train them for Combat. Let's see, if he lose his Human Squad and has now to form a new with these ones, to save the WORLD!!!!!!... Outbreak Company vibes
But i wonder in how long they have these Humvee, aka Jeeps. even in Outbreak Company Fuel for them was non existent, and only with a trick he could fly the Plane.. I wonder in how this works here

I'm kinda curious about this show just because I've heard a lot of...interesting things about it, and none of them good.

While everything would have to be supplied by truck convoys initially, building a train line through the gate would be a better long term solution.

I think it's rather the opposite in UOT. If not for the fact that he's an unrepentant otaku, he actually could be out saving the world and advancing global science. Instead, he's teaching high school.
Granted, his otaku-ness helps the poor kids with their problems, but it's not exactly doing the rest of the world any favors.
Also, I'd dare say this GATE anime is different as well, because the otaku character isn't the usual NEET, but rather a trained military man with actual skills. Of course we'll see if that's actually the case once the episode comes out.

YEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!
I am so [expletive] happy to hear this. Been looking forward to this title since the manga's fruition. Truly there is a god. Not that I'll stop using His name in vain anytime soon, but thank you nonetheless.
